Oh! Wait a minute! It just hit me! Is this why you are reporting a neighbor for tags? You suspect they are the ones stealing your flag?

Smear the pole with something benign, but incredibly sticky and stinky...after the thief gets stunk out real good he might lose his taste for messing with the flag.

dip your new flag in ghost pepper oil..
or get one of those deer urine scent bottles and hang it on the pole so it pours out on the bad person.

New flag up, solar security lights up, turned Ring camera more towards the flag. Maybe I'll sleep in the front room tonight.

Interlocking layers of motion activated claymore mines? Cut down on thieves and squirrels.
The 'anti theft' or 'anti sieze' grease on the poll is great until the flag hits the pole and/or your need to take it down to replace the flag.
