:iagree:
Very much still on

Rep. Hochberg (D-Houston I think)cannounces that he will try to amend his school finance legislation onto the fiscal matters bill.
not sure if he means 1811 or 1581... but they need to pass school money

Perry says no special session for school finance (pressure is on to pass)

Perry a no on Education Special Session- "Gov. Rick Perry on Tuesday served notice that he will not accept a http://bit.ly/l8WpjV" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Education advocates have generally favors that idea, as it would allow them to lobby lawmakers longer to make more pleasing funding decisions for schools.

Perry's office would not say what the governor would do if the conference committee was unable to complete the entire budget by the end of Wednesday except refuse to approve it.
Pressure is on to get these bills passed ... campus carry is very much alive

76 amendments pre-filed for SB 1581 to rule on/vote on tomorrow.

Wonder how many of those are related to Campus Carry, versus funding/Money for this or that

There were lots of amendments in the Senate on it prior to Campus Carry .... so dunno :headscratch

If I'm counting right (and it's been a long day), then about half (37/76) amendments are filed by reps who didn't cosponsor the House campus carry bill. I expect Aycock will be the one to try to remove campus carry.

Sarah Davis will try for a carve-out of Houston medical center teaching hospitals, assuming the current wording of the SB 1581 campus carry amendment doesn't do that already.

Budget Leaders: It's Up to the Texas House
46 minutes ago
If the House doesn't pass legislation that adds $2.6 billion to state revenue with a mix of delayed payments, increased penalties, government efficiencies and the like, the state budget won't balance and a special session will probably be required, House and Senate leaders said today.

Perry said today he isn't planning to call a special session for budget ... http://bit.ly/l8WpjV" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Pressure is on ;-)

Just curious.

Not directly, just "get the budget bills passed" I won't approve an incompetent budget.

What I'm seeing via twitter on various party tweets/education/newspapers etc:
SB 5 gave them some money, but they are unhappy and want more than Pitts says they'll get ... or something like that.
soooo if these guys want to add amendments for themselves to get money, they have to give in some ... or something like that.

Gonna B a long day 2morrow ....

Castro and some others will try to gut SB 1581 by taking out the CC portion. That's my feeling. Hopefully won't happen.

yeah they'll be talking germane later ... interesting figuring how many votes to pass to suspend rules on single subject ... although saving insurance $ and potential lawsuit costs due to immunity annual savings forevermore ...etc is germane ..., and at the bottom his comment on stronger position later ...
