Update:
I think I found the reason for variations in timelines. It must have to do with the review process of criminal background. According to the TLTC Handbook GC §411.176 after the state background check, you are sent for a local background check, or geographical, which they have 30 days to respond.

Still nothing in the mail.

3/23 - took classes
3/26 - fingerprints
3/28 - submitted ltc 100 form
4/4ish - status showed up on website (background check under review)
4/17 - still waiting for site to update (background check under review)

Received my plastic today! It's about time.

Stupid question but where are y’all finding the checklist. When I log in on the DPS website (with DL # and DOB) I don’t see anything

Still waiting on fingerprints and background to turn green

I’m new here and have been trying to get info on the LTC process.

6-17-18: I completed the online application and paid the fee of $42.95
3-5-19: I had my photo taken and fingerprints done with IdentoGO
3-17-19: Received my LTC-100 Training Certificate and uploaded it to the TXDPS (Regulatory Services Division)
4-18-19 The website still states:
“Background check: Under Review” and “Print pending completion of application review.”

I’ve contacted the office in Austin 2x; once via email and another time over the phone.

The email reply stated that all materials were submitted on 3-17-19 and that my 60 day waiting period starts from that point. When I called yesterday, 4-17-19, I was told that no one touched my file/application until 3-27-19 (10 days later!) and that my 60 day wait actually starts that day. Does that seem fair/correct? Why does it take them so long to process an application??? I applied for a renewal US Passport around the same time and had it in hand in less than three weeks!

I’m a RN and I have background checks completed for work/new employment all of the time. It usually takes a couple of days at most. I have no criminal background (no felonies, no misdemeanors, not even traffic violations). I really don’t know why this process seems to be taking forever, and when I contact the office for info/any updates they tell me absolutely nothing. They act like I’m being impatient or dumb for asking what’s going on... Anyway, I’m frustrated and can’t wait to have the license that I paid for. I feel like if they waited to process the payment until the time that they’re actually going to print/issue the card that they’d be a bit more efficient and speedy in completing the background check.

Completed EVERYTHING and submitted 2/27/2019. . This is what I have had since that DATE. Even tried emailing my state rep. He responded to me about a COMPLETELY different issue.

I have this exact same screen shot. Only difference is that my fingerprints say “received.” And it’s been this way for a month now... Deep sigh!

It doesn’t seem like they really care about taking care of business in a timely fashion. Once they’ve processed your payment they can careless how long you wait! We’re trying to carry a gun legally and do the right thing. They shouldn’t be dragging their feet, or if they’re really swamped with applications then maybe they need to hire more people.

Not sure what miracle was worked for you. I haven’t heard or read of anyone else having similar results.

My timeline:

4/7 Took LTC class and filled out online application
4/9 Got fingerprints scanned and scanned LTC-100
4/9 Email that documents were received
4/19 DPS updated website/ background check under review
4/20 Background check completed

Everything is green for me except print pending

I thought I was 50 says in, but after contacting DPS I was told my time started on March 8th not on Feb 28 like the email said so 43 days in and counting. The lady told me its due to be completed by May 8th. So....back to waiting..
