Senator Huffman, I believe, was told during debate that carrying past a 30.06 sign on campus was a Class A misdemeanor. Didn't that get changed to a class C for carry on campus as well?

It was Hinojosa. He's now saying it was an accident

THANK YOU Charles for all the endless hours of work. The progress made this session has been tremendous. As of a few weeks ago, I was frustrated with the process and with the individuals who were acting like children instead of elected officials. But your tireless efforts and teaching people like me to be patient are quite impressive.
I personally don't plan on open carrying - - I will continue to conceal - - - but I still think it was important to pass open carry. But having multiple adult children currently attending college, campus carry is important to me. I hope that campus carry gets across the finish line tomorrow. I'll get my popcorn ready for 2:00 p.m. tomorrow.
On to the House!!! (and then the Governor).

Especially if it was a record vote.

To the House tomorrow. Session begins at 2:00pm.
Chas.
Any reason to believe it will not make it out of the house?
This is a personal opinion only. A filibuster would only be 10 hours long, if our bill is the first one up.
Chas.
I thought only the Senate could filibuster?

In the House they "chub", which is to have lots of Reps talk and ask each other meaningless questions to waste time. Kind of like a filibuster, but done by many people acting together.

Can they do the 26 names on a sheet of paper like they did the other night?

Class C only applied to HB910 with violations on 30.06/30.07 signs.

I believe that is incorrect. HB910 changed the penalty within 30.06. It doesn't matter where an enforceable 30.06 sign is posted, the penalty for violating is contained in 30.06.

The committee report for SB 11 has a specific carve-out for carrying on campus. Read page 8 and top of page 9.

From SB11 conference report:
(g) An offense under Subsection (a), (a-1), (a-2), (a-3), (b), (c), (d), or (e) is a Class A misdemeanor, unless the offense is committed under Subsection (b)(1) or (b)(3), in which event the offense is a felony of the third degree.

I stand corrected. If this bill passes the first thing that needs to happen in 2017 is to bring the penalty in line with 30.06 if they are going to use the 30.06 sign.
