Concealed Handgun License : Manufacturing Pending

Finally done, now just waiting for it to be mailed.

10 days for BG check to be completed and I had a juvenile felony charge back in 1998.

My Timeline..

2/26-Mailed off Paper app and packet
2/28-DPS signed for app and packet
5/2-First update and in the system,BG check under review
5/6-Fingerprints done
5/12-Manufacturing pending.

73 days so far.

It took 63 days to get my first update.

4/5 - Submitted Online Application
4/6 - Took Initial CHL class with proficiency test
4/9 - Electronic fingerprinting completed
4/9 - Mailed the rest of the required materials to the DPS (opted for them to use my DL photo instead of submitting passport photos)
4/10 - Received confirmation of delivery to the DPS
5/14 - Status update on the DPS website:

Application: Received
Fingerprints: Complete

Citizenship: No Documentation Required
Passport Photo Holder: Received
Photo: Received
Proof of Classroom Training: Received

This is actually quicker than I expected! Only 34 days from delivery of my materials to the DPS to the status update! I hope this gives hope to the people who submitted their materials around the same time as me. I feel like the wait for the status update is the uphill battle. Everything else from here should be fairly quick (*crosses fingers*)!

dward, my timing was nearly identical to yours:

Class: 3/30/13
Application (Online): 4/4/13
Mailed: 4/8/13
Fingerprints: 4/10/13
First update: 5/14/13 (Everything received, awaiting background check)

Perhaps they are catching up? I called them a while back, and they were 7 weeks behind.

I experienced similar time 1 week ahead of that - 5 weeks to acknowledge receipt of all materials; next and last step background check one week and counting

Finally received the plastic!!!!

72 days mailbox to mailbox. My status showed Mailed on 5/10 but post marked on 5/14. Two of those days did include the weekend though.

I guess this shows there is no rhyme or reason to DPS madness..im just happy plastic is on the way!

I wonder in military background checks take longer? Perhaps another VA issue (probably very low on their priority list).
