Let me answer the 2nd of your questions. I have never been to a gun show that had an enforceable 30.06 sign posted. All of the gun shows I have attended have been on public property where it is impossible to post an enforceable 30.06 sign.

Yes, we know that the arena is definitely off limits, and I would *assume* that the rest of the area is OK. Again, it's an assumption. I've learned many times in the past, don't assume anything. There was confusion in the air, and the NRA did NOT do anything to clear it up. That only caused negative publicity to go their way, as if recent events haven't already done enough damage.

It's not an assumption... It is what the Secret Service notice states. If it were to include the exhibit halls, the Secret Service would have stated such.

I'm in the same boat, ordered my badge back in March and have not seen it. Guess I have to register in person, had hoped to avoid that.

So as long as we are not attending the leadership conference we should be good to carry correct? I was planning to ride DART all three days but I'm hesitant to do so if I can't carry (I'll drive and leave my gun locked in my car otherwise).

I requested mine on April 10 and didn't get it until this weekend. Another buddy of mine requested his either the same day or the day after and get his before me.

The intent was posted same as a business doing so message given, I just do push things a lifetime of seeing what can happen now is just not worth it to ME. Same as a PT jot I later had with an illegal sign posted message given either keep job or leave very simple to me.

I am a producer for German TV in the U.S., and given the topic of this discussion, I thought I'd share a story we are working on. Given the wall-to-wall coverage of student gun reform protests recently, we are working on a story about high school students/teenagres who are arguing to defend the 2nd Amendment and who are against more regulations of gun purchases. I will be in Dallas this week for the NRA convention. Is there somebody here who could put me in touch with students who can talk about their positive feelings toward guns? We feel like this perspective falls way short in the national media coverage, and we would like to do our part to change that. So if anybody can help, I'd appreciate any leads. I'm not sure what you mean by intent. A business that intends to prevent people from carrying firearms onto their property posts a valid and enforceable 30.06 sign. If they post anything else, they do not intend to prevent people from carrying firearms onto their property. I'm assuming the business owner is actually literate and has a minimal level of intelligence, of course.

If you are implying that the people running a gun show would like to do things they can't legally do, then I suppose that is true. They might also want to ban minorities, homosexuals, and who knows what else. But they probably aren't completely anti-gun since they are choosing to run a gun show after all. I also would not assume that the owners of a bar were anti-alcohol for the same reason. Still, if a gun shows organizers were to make their anti-gun stance clear, then I would not patronize them. This actually happened with a range owner in Katy who came out against online ammo sales. He is now out of business.

Customers can still carry a handgun when riding DART. However, if someone is carrying openly, bus or rail operators may stop the vehicle and call for DART Police. The law allows a police officer to request the license holder's driver's license or government-issued identification along with the holder's handgun license.

Customers carrying concealed handguns should experience no changes unless the handgun becomes visible. If that happens the police may be called to investigate.

I feel like that should be against the law... They either need to post 30.07 signs on their buses/mention it on their website or not make a fuss about it at all instead of being like "if someone feels uncomfortable we'll call the cops on you for exercising your 2nd amendment right as a law abiding US citizen." Wouldn't logic dictate that if you get on a bus and dont go psycho on everyone, that theres a GOOD chance you're a law abiding citizen... Plus speaking of logic, if a bad guy planned on doing something bad i dont think he'd be open carrying to begin with. he'd wanna keep it concealed so nobody knew he had it...its policies like these that make no since to me. they defy logic. all for a "false sense of security" for people who are scared of guns.

It is illegal. You can't call the police just because you think they fit a profile. Should I call the police when I see a high school aged kid on a DART bus? After all, recent shootings have been done by high school aged folks. Maybe those two teenage boys are getting ready to go on a rampage. Same thing for members of ethnic groups that have a higher chance of committing crimes.

If DART is not publicly owned, then they should post 30.07 signs or just give verbal notice to anyone OC'ing.

SoccerDad, I am not saying the NRA is powerless but let's look at the gravity of the situation. Both the VP and President are coming to speak in person to the NRA meeting. Why would the NRA shoot themselves in the foot politically (again) and turn them away? They wouldn't and they shouldn't.
