Yea my wife and her shopping friend asked me if I'd go with them to be thier security! Lol I said no thank you I'll stay home with the kiddos and let here take my G22 in her car.

I recived my chl middle of last week, that day I went out and bought a new edc(Glock 27) and haven't left the house without it yet! I almost got outted by my five year old but the guy checking us out didn't catch what she said. Lol. When we got in the car I had to let her know that "Texas says daddy can carry but we can't let anyone else know" she said "well I want a dark pink gun with crystals on it then Texas will let me carry too". Oh the joys of being a worry free tot!!

Just wait until she figures out she needs a matching holster as well!

That's pure greatness! I have a 6 yr old daughter who I bet Santa is bringing a pink, youth model, Crickett .22 for Christmas. May want to check them out...

Y'all have a happy Thanksgiving :txflag:

Strider67, I'm not trying to bash your suggestion at all; in fact, I think for what it is, the Cricketts are fine little beginner rifles. They're surprisingly reliable and dirt-cheap most places.
Only drawback is that it'll be outgrown pretty quickly, but in all likelihood, won't last quite that long.

No bash taken, my friend. I do realize that she will get limited use from it; but the memories (as well as the fact she will be learning proper and safe gun handling from a very early age) have value for me, with her, that no amount of money can buy...

Absolutely, and I brain-farted writing the last post; Cricketts are surprisingly accurate little .22's. If you can shoulder it. Firing a full-stocked rifle as a pistol doesn't work so well. ;-)

I've read some good reviews on it, as well, for what it is. It seems to be well-built, and more importantly safe. A good can-plinker and best of all...PINK!

Absolutely. And back to the topic of this thread... Still waiting!
My application is considered overdue "after 12/07/2011."
Does that mean they'll actually say something on the 8th, if not before, or is that just something DPS throws into their canned replies to get people to stop pestering them for at least 60 days?

Thank y'all for all the info. If I hadn't been on this site before I applied, it may have taken me a lot longer to get my license.

Submitted everything on the 7th in person (except prints obviously).
Nothing as of yet online, but at least I've memorized my DL number.

Yeah funny I've had my DL for about 8 years and I only just now remembered my DL number..
