After I got home, I glanced at the old ammo pricing spreadsheet I used to keep (I abandoned the Excel file and started relying on http://gun-deals.com/ammo.php). On 8/24/2007 I bought two cases of Sellier & Bellot .40 S&W for 20.8 cents per round, and on 10/6/2007 two cases of S&B 9mm for 14 cents per round. I won't mention the eight cases of S&B between May and July 2007 for 21.8 cents per round. Without tax my purchase today was $479.40, and the same volume of S&B (rather than WWB) last summer was $348.

at work we just found out ammo has gone up again

Today at Leander Wal-Mart I bought some UMC 40 S&W for $67.94 The 9mm I noticed was $48.94. I was buying the 9mm for $39.97 2-3 weeks back. (Box of 250)

Also $21.84 for box of 100 shot shells 12g. 7 1/2 and 8 shot.

I live in SW Houston and I'm struggling to find a deal on decent 9mm FMJ. I have been shooting WWB, but I am open to suggestions. What would be the downfall to using aluminum case ammo or some of the cheaper brands? I shoot a Beretta PX4, Glock 19, and a Beretta CX4 all in 9mm.

I'd recommend giving CCI Blazer aluminum a shot (no pun intended lol) as I run it through my USPc all the time with no problems at all. It's cheap ammo, good for plinking and has caused no undue wear and tear on my gun at all.

I found Wally World had 9mm WWB for 19.47 per 100ct, and REM UMC for 44.87 per 250ct. today in Rosenberg.

Just throwing this out there. I found Remington Golden Saber 9mm 124-gr +P at cheaper than dirt for $14/box of 25. The stores I checked yesterday were selling them for around $28. Throw in the Appleseed promo code that's floating around the forum and that's another $10 off. I ended up with 3 boxes for about $45 including tax and shipping. Would have cost $94 in some of the local stores. Must have a stockpile they're trying to thin out.

Tried to use the promo code and it says that it expired 9-30-08...oh well, still a good deal without the promo.

Hmm, I got it to work and it still shows the $10 off. I hate those pesky computer gremlins that replace random bits.
