Thanks Nighthawk...another day without it. Did get an email from my state rep's assistant wondering if I had ever received it. I replyed "no", but said I voted for her boss anyway. She is very helpful to our group. I guess I should start a countup clock; number of days since DPS said they mailed it...14. Didn't realize Austin to Southlake could take so long!

Your license must be with mine. I was told it was mailed on 10/16 and as of 11/5 still nothing.
I have moved since it was mailed, but still own the home and check mail there everyday.
So on 10/27 I went online and did a change of address and called yesterday 11/4 and was told the change of address license was mail on 10/31. It must be looking for my 1st license as it has not arrived yet either.
If nothing tomorrow I will place a call my to Senator Estes office in Denton as they were trying to help the process along and assumed since it was mailed I had received it.

One more day...I thought if it arrived today I would at least have that to smile about!! Talked to DPS today and the lady said if I don't have it by Friday afternoon to call her back. I can see it now...oops; you've run out of time to receive your license and you'll have to reapply.
I really think a group of us could offer our time and go down to Austin, apply all that we have learned in the world of business, and get the mess straightened out. Mentioned that to my state rep and she said we should talk after the elections.

Soooo, I just had to down to the LGS and browse around. Wanted to look at the Walther PPS 9mm. Asked hubby if he would mind if I bought 2 guns - he laughed

Uhhh, buy as many as you want. So I left with a Walther PPS .40 and a Springfield XD .40
Now my S&W won't feel lonely
Darn, this means we have to go the the range tomorrow morning

Okay, I'll quit complaining...the magic plastic just came in the mail. TonyH, maybe yours will arrive today as well! Funny, after the debacle on Tuesday, I don't feel quite as elated as I thought I would; more of a relief, or a sense that I got it just in time to avoid whatever might be coming down the road.

It has been 99 days since I overnighted my packet to Austin....and it's still "Processing Application". I'm thinkin an e-mail to my rep is in order. What are you guys sayin in your e-mails to get a response so quickly? I don't want to piss them off! lol But seriously...this is getting pretty ridiculous...

CW...this is what I wrote:
Hello Senator Whitmire and staff. As a member of
the senators district I was wondering if I could
ask for a little help. I submitted my CHL
paperwork to the D.P.S. offices in late July of
this year, and am concerned about the extensive
delay in processing the licenses. I have recently
(March 2008) suffered a stroke and was diagnosed
with multiple brain lesions which have left me
with some neurological deficits (extensive
neuropathic pain and a nice little limp). As a
fit 35 year-old man I used to be sure of my
ability to defend myself, but have become less
sure of that after the stroke. I was wondering if
you could place a call on my behalf to D.P.S. to
expedite the process to guarantee a timely receipt
of the license; the piece of mind is invaluable in
such unsure times in our great city. Thank you in
advance, and please feel free to call me for
support in any way.

Hey Nils...hope it gets to you tomorrow. Mine was supposedly sent on 10/20, and then on 10/27, and when it arrived today, the postmark was 11/4. Those things must sit in the mailroom forever!
Couple of things from my first, but not official, trip to Wally World.
1) The cameras at the intersections sure looked like they all turned to look at me.
2) The greeter sure seemed to have a funny look on his face when I walked in.
3) Don't follow the lady around who has two screaming, crying kids in her cart...both locked into each other like a Texas death match. (People look at you like its your fault)
4) By the third aisle, realize that a little weight loss would make life much better
5) Most importantly, REMEMBER YOUR WALLET AND AVOID AN ABORTED FIRST TRIP TO WALLY WORLD!!!!
Other than that, it was a pretty good trip.
