Talk about bad journalism. The headline talks about the 38% but the details explain that 38% of Americans would not buy Corona in any circumstances. Only 4% have drunk corona in the pat and now won't drink it because of the virus.

That means there is a little more common sense in the US than the headline implies.

Multiple sources I've read say that hand sanitizers don't kill viruses. And the hand sanitizer may actually trap the virus on your skin.

The most effective, proven method is to wash your hands, doesn't matter what kind of soap, you are trying to wash the virus off your hands and down the drain.

"Hand sanitizer that contains at least 60 % alcohol or contains a "persistent antiseptic" should be used.[16][17] Alcohol rubs kill many different kinds of bacteria, including antibiotic resistant bacteria and TB bacteria. 90% alcohol rubs are highly flammable, but kill many kinds of viruses, including enveloped viruses such as the flu virus, the common cold virus, and HIV, though is notably ineffective against the rabies virus.[18][19][20]

90% alcohol rubs are more effective against viruses than most other forms of hand washing.[21] Isopropyl alcohol will kill 99.99 % or more of all non-spore forming bacteria in less than 30 seconds, both in the laboratory and on human skin.[16][22]"

I have been told by infectious lab folks that a mixture of 10% Clorox and water kills everything.

However, I am not sure how the skin reacts to that. It was primarily used on surfaces. I did one time get scratched by a wild mouse or rat. (long story) I opened the cut with my hands and poured straight Clorox on it. I remember my skin "smoking" before I washed it off. But I did not die.

My wife asked me to pick up some N95 masks this morning, just to have.... NOBODY has them. Home Depot, Lowe's, Walmart, Walgreen's, etc. I did find a couple of the supercheap paper masks at a Lowe's. They said people were coming at a 6 a.m. and buying them by the armload, and since they're all made in China, there won't be any restocking.

We have sort of a routine, set by my wife (she's a nurse practitioner). Whenever we go somewhere, we rub in some hand sanitizer when we're back in the car, before we touch the steering wheel, etc. And in any case, it's critical to keep your hands away from your face. The mouth, nose and eyes are the "gateways" through which the viruses enter your body. You touch a doorknob, scratch your nose, and pow, you're infected.
