I've been checking Walmart around Austin here and there, especially after seeing a few different calibers in stock that weren't showing on ammo-can. Mostly they have little to nothing, but I'll make a point to post here if/when I find anything.
I'm hoping most for the ~$38, 100 count boxes of Federal 223 to come back... but I'm not holding my breath.

Went to Academy on the southside of SA & all they had in 9MM was 2 boxs of Remington FMJ for $43. I get FMJ from my gun store range for $19.
It's Generic but good ammo. The guy at the gun counter wouldnt unlock the trigger of a M&P 9 i was looking at so I could see the trigger safty & triger pull???? LOL

Wow! Ammo is loosening up. I went to Academy in Arlington today and they were loaded, excuse the pun. Saw 223, 40, 45, and 9 mm. There was also some other stuff. New policy is 2 boxes per caliber or 100 rounds per caliber. I bought 2 boxes of 9 mm Winchester NATO. It was all selling fast and Academy hasen't gone up on price. Remember that.

The Cabela's in Allen has loosened their restrictions. They no longer restrict purchases of center-fire ammo. They still limit .22 to 100 rounds.

9mm and .380 ammo in stock at the Walmart on Sawdust Road, near The Woodlands. Had 37 boxes of 9 and 40 or so boxes of .380. It's Tulo Brass cased stuff. 9mm is $13.97 a box, I assume the .380 is close to the same.
Edited to say that the 9mm is 115FMJ, not sure about the .380, but I think it's whatever weight is the most common for FMJ .380.

The Academy at I-10 & Grand Parkway in Katy had more .45 caliber in stock today than I've seen in a very long time. Several brands to choose from.
Edited to add: I was able to purchase Hornady Critical Defense in .40 & 9mm. I haven't found this available in 9mm for several months.

I was there this afternoon. Plenty of 45 and 40 and many others but no 22. Got a box of hydra shok in 40. Went around the corner to Gander and they were a bit thin but seemed to have something in most calibers but they had some .22 CB shorts in 100 rd boxes. I have trouble remembering the last time I saw some on the shelves anywhere. I think they removed the limit but I only picked up 2 at 9.99 each

Unfortunately, the link is to .22 CB Short ammo, not LR. Natchez has no .22 LR in stock in any brand. Good thing I still have a little left. You'd think .22 would loosen up before larger calibers, but it's still choked in the marketplace.
I didn't notice it was for CB. I asked them to notify me of LR.

Ummm.........I don't shoot 22 but, and I'm showing that here, what is the abbreviation CB stand for??
Joe
The "CB" rounds have almost no powder in them. They turned my Model 74 Winchester .22 Short into a single shot rifle because there was not enough powder in the cartridge to cycle the slide back. I think they're made for pest control but I'm not sure. I still have 2.5 100 round boxes of this stuff manufactured by CCI. Anybody want it? 5 bucks and you pick it up in Westlake / Trophy Club area!!
And if anyone did the math, yes. I shot half a box and tore this gun apart 10 times before I figured it out....

Location of sighting: Walmart, West Main St./FM1171, Lewisville, TX.
Date/time of sighting: Tuesday, 7/30/13, 900 PM.
Ammo spotted: Winchester PDX1 Defender, .45 ACP, JHP, 10 boxes (probably 20-25 rounds each).
No other handgun ammo of any type was available.
As a disconcerting note at this location, since they are getting so little ammo in, they have
taken 50% of the former ammo cabinet space and filled it with knives. Then they jammed all
the little ID tags for each ammo type/price into 1 of the 2 former ammo cabinets.

I'm on the Denton/Collin county line and I go to the Academy in Frisco on Preston between Lebanon and Warren. Mondays are usually when I go and this week they had their entire counter at the front full of ammo. From .22 to 9mm to .223. They limit bulk ammo to one box(100+ rds), but allow 2 boxes of anything less. The .22lr wasn't as abundant, but you should be able to find whatever you need outside of that.
Definitely call first so you don't waste a trip just in case there was a rush or something.
Good luck.
