I think that there would be cases where the mannerisms of someone just following me could make me fear for my life. At some point there is an implied threat, that is why (this may be at the exreme for this discussion) restraining orders exist. It is a big ol' wide grey line. Figuring out when it is crossed could be very difficult. I think that this may be the crux of the issue for a CHL holder if we put ourselves in Martin's shoes.

I think that you have put your finger right on the reason this story has such interest here, and the thread goes on and on, with speculation after speculation. Does it really matter to most of our commentators what the facts are, since we can all be losers regardless of what they are?

As an illustration, of the many significant questions here, there is one which is overriding: "Is Zimmerman guilty or not guilty of homicide?"

If guilty, the antis have an open field to take on CHLs, those who have them, and guns in general, as just a beginning.

If not guilty, the antis have an open field on CHLs and those that have them, guns in general, lax state handgun law, and lax law enforcement, as just a beginning.

If the Brady Bunch has spoken out loudly yet in the media I have missed it. Are they holding their fire until they can see the target? I suspect that may be the case.

Meanwhile, I do indeed think many on our forum, on both sides of the question, may be guilty of "Ready, Fire, Aim." We all definitely have a dog in this hunt. Things we feel strongly about may be at serious risk here, but by flying off in all directions may we be giving ammunition to our opponents?

Interesting observation -

I went out for dinner last night and the TV was on with this story. The waitress commented about how the pictures of the deceased were very old when he was just a cute junior high kid. She was wondering what the guy looked like when he was 17.

Of course the picture of Zimmerman is not very flattering.

President Obama has now given a speech about the shooting, he remarked how if he had a son, he would look just like this young man. So now Zimmerman has killed the president's son. Zimmerman is in a lot of trouble.

I have noticed the picture of the Trayvon have changed from what originally looked like a mug shot to this cute smiling young teenager.

If I remember the earliest posts on this, Zimmerman was injured on the back of his head, that isn't being talked about.

I suspect this will be a campaign issue now.

I really hope there is was a lot of forensic evidence taken in this case.

Hmmm. I forgot Obama got involved in the arrest of a man in Boston by the police. This ended up with the "Beer summit". In that case he accused the police of bias. Which I guess is being hinted at here, since all local control has been removed.

It's because that's an inconvenient truth that doesn't support their agenda.

Imagine if Zimmerman was a black cop off duty who got into a scuffle with a white teen. At the end, Black Zimmerman is bleeding from his head and White Martin is dead, shot by BZ.

I predict most people who are saying Zimmerman was foolish but the actial evidence doesn't support murder would be saying it doesn't sound like murder if the race or career of the individuals was different.

I don't think most of the people calling for Zimmerman's head would be doing the same if Zimmerman was black and Martin was white or Hispanic or Asian. I think there's a double standard there the MSM is ignoring to push an agenda.

None of the people bemoaning this care a lick about Trayvon. They're just using him to push their agendas.

ABC Radio News said at 3:00 today "this is a worldwide event".

OK, lets say Zimmerman was within his rights under Florida law to defend himself with his gun. Then lets say either the special DA, or the grand jury no bills him or he is found not guilty in a trial (of the century). And maybe even found not guilty in a federal hate crime trial, moved to Washington DC cause everyone in Florida is racist.

To me all this anger and attention we are seeing, is going to go from Zimmerman, to his gun and if Florida didn't have this insane law to allow concealed carry, the president's son, Trayvon would be alive.

Almost all of the news items about George Zimmerman and Trayvon Martin contains a combination of false statements, opinions presented as facts, transparent distortions, and a complete absence of some of the most relevant details. Almost all news items are written soley from the point of view of the grieving family. The media also fills their articles with outdated baby-faced pictures of Trayvon. Very few include that he was a towering 6'2” football player. Is the media really reporting the news, or is this classic agitation/propaganda to advance a political agenda.

All the way back on February 27th, the local Orlando Fox station interviewed the witness who dialed 911. Almost none of the thousands of articles since have mentioned any of the details described by the witness. Some, however, have attributed false statements to this witness. On March 16th, the Sanford police department released new details to the Orlando Sentinel. Once again, these details have been ignored or changed by the media.

The witness reports that George Zimmerman was on the ground and Trayvon is on top of him punching him.
The witness says that George Zimmerman was screaming and yelling for help.
Police arrive and find Zimmerman bleeding on his face and the back of his head. He also has had grass stains on his back. All this confirms the story told by Zimmerman and the witness.
Police play the 911 tape for Trayvon Martin's father, who tells police that the voice screaming is not the voice of his son.

Whether this guy is guilty or not, this is a media and Federal government lynching --promoted by the man at the top calling Martin his would be son.

The insane Florida law is the one that lets Miami kids use a shooting 250 miles away as an excuse to skip school without consequences.

Does anyone know how many shootings there were in Miami since Trayvon was killed?
