03/12 : CHL Class
03/15 : Packet Mailed
03/20 : Packet Received
05/07 : Processing application
05/12 : Received PIN snail mail
Current Status : Processing Application

Is it just me or does this seem like a REALLY long time?

BTW, 1st timer!

Any out-of-staters? I'm from Oregon originally and starting to wonder how long that will delay my application. Kind of scary seeing the comments from people *here in Texas* talking about months-long delays for background checks from other COUNTIES!

Spoke with DPS-RLS since today is day 60 since app was "received" by DPS. They said that they are waiting on background search from Harris County. :waiting: :banghead:

Mailed it 3/28/09/. Did have to re-due the fingerprints electronically, but that was done the next day. Still no CHL. I reckon it takes lots of time. :confused5

Applied online sometime mid April. Took class on May 2, 2009. Received electronic application in mail May 2. Sent in all application materials May 2, 2009. July 13, 2009......DPS still doesn't even know if they have received my application materials. 72 days!!!!! Today they finally told me I should re-send it. ABSURD! I believe its there, they just won't admit its taking them longer than 6 weeks to update status.

Oh.....by the way, for anyone who has heard that the DPS has hired more employees to help with the surge of applications.....it's false. The employee I spoke with today said that DPS has not been authorized to hire any extra new employees due to the fact that they don't have the 2009 statutes in hand yet. Its July, folks, come on.

5/2: CHL Class
5/2: Sent out all application materials
7/13: DPS still doesn't know if they have received anything from me. Current status: Packet mailed to Applicant
