Hi and Good Morning. I've been on the forum about a month doing a little posting and lots of reading. I love it, it's been a wealth of information and a very enjoyable experience. I thought maybe I ought to take a few minutes to introduce myself.
Male, 63 short years old. Married to a wonderful lady from Michigan I met a couple of years ago at an Eagles concert in Chicago. Born in Palo Pinto County and grew up ranching in Central TX (Gillespie/Kerr Counties). Retired pilot and still run a few head of cattle. For the past 10 yrs I've managed 350 acre Conference and Retreat Center for a Christian ministry. Been around firearms for as long as I can remember. In my younger years I lived to hunt, today I just love to look at and admire the beauty...except for Feral Hogs, with whom I have an ongoing war...I'm not winning but I get to trap, hunt, kill, and cook to my hearts content and call it work. Once I figure out how to do it I'll post a picture of my work cubicle in the Brazos River in Palo Pinto County. I love my job...life is good.
A sincere Thank You for those who make this forum possible and keep it running smoothly and especially to Mr Smith and those who are constantly vigilant to keep our 2nd Amendment rights alive and well.
Almost forgot, I've had my CHL about a year now, I open carry every day at work and CC most days, although I really need and want to get a different/better CC weapon and setup so as to make it more convenient and comfortable. Open carry really spoils though I'm not all that big of a OC supporter in public at the moment.

Hello all. I have wanted to get my CHL for years but life was busy. My wife gave me the present of a CHL class for Christmas, and now I am hopefully a week away from receiving my license.
I am 42, live in Pearland which is a suburb of Houston. I have been married for 12 years, have a 9 year old daughter, a 6 year old son, and a boy dog named buttercup (we did not name him, the name came with the dog).
The wife has a lady smith 38 special revolver (no chl yet), and I have a Kahr MK9 Elite 9mm with crimson trace laser grips as my carry. I have "oodles" of other firearms which mostly consist of shotguns and deer rifles. I go shoot clays at least once a month with my brother-in-law.
I go shooting at least once a month, so I really don't have an excuse as to why it took me so long to get my CHL, but I am here now, and once I get the license I intend to carry everyday.
Going through the licensing process has taught me that having a CHL is a responsibility not to be taken lightly. I had a great instructor (active duty Sherrif dept) and I am taking additional defensive and offensive handgun training courses so that I can be better prepared if I ever get into a bad situation. I hope I never need to, but having the option in todays world is a must.

Welcome,
I am a newbie myself and I too got the CHL class as a Christmas gift from my brother. He, my dad, my uncle and my myself took the class together and we all are packing now. I second the motion of taking extra classes. I want to do that too, just need to find the time. I try to shoot every two weeks or so. Too bad shooting can be so expensive!

Shooting can get expensive. I have three other guys that took the class with me that do not have firearms. They were wondering how each gun felt, pros/cons, etc. We thought the best way to help everyone was to take all of our guns to the range and send some metal down-range.
We shot a .22, .380 LCP, 38 special scandium revolver, 9mm Glock, 9mm Kahr MK9, 40 cal xd full frame, 45 Kimber full frame, and a 357 revolver.
I personally went through 600 or so rounds. Really fun 3 hours tho.

Glad I found the board actually. It is nice to find a place of like minded individuals who, from my perspective, seem very "normal" in an abnormal world.

I've been firing guns since I was 5 years old... shotguns, revolvers, semiautomatic pistols, rifles, muzzle loaders, hand cannons, full auto, etc. A little bit of everything. I do have a CHL and carry daily. I run a gun blog at
http://www.spuler.us/gunsandammo/. I have a 1 year old son, and two dogs.

First post- had my first time out a few weeks ago, the "spidey senses" were tingling and I could probably still describe everyone in the gas station!
Age- 29
Gender- Male
Profession/school status - Insurance (Some of the nicest people I know have received death threats, and I have a wife to protect!)
Marital status - See above
Years CHL - Going on 3 months, shooting pistols for a while and long guns since I could walk, have a Kimber CDP II, hence the name, in a MTAC and a Beretta 92 next to the bed... I'll probably go to the Glock side at some point if the price is right and the wife approves!

Funny how that happens when you get a CHL.
Welcome to the forum.
Let me guess, a Kimber?
