Last update was a few weeks ago "waiting on FBI background check..."
Same update I've been given for 2 weeks now... waiting on FBI check.... what the heck! I thought that was the quickest of all background checks, no? Dallas and Rockwall counties have been complete for weeks now. ARRGH!

I went about this a little strange but, it all turned out ok. All of my paper work, pictures, finger prints, notary... were all completed at the CHL class. The Instructor was Bill Waybourn which is the Chief of Police of Dalworthington Gardens Tx. His son is a Police Officer and Swatt Team member in Mansfield, Tx, he did the finger printing for my class.
The class was at Alpine Gun Range in Fort Worth, Tx and I just cannot say enough about how great the class was. Bill shared some real world situations with us that I feel makes me better prepaired to carry and really understand the responsibility I take on when I do carry. He said he just could not understand why anyone would not want the good guys armed because the bad guys have been armed all along.....
I got off track a little, sorry. Anyway, I took day 1 of the class and found out about the website where you may apply online. I applied online and paid that night after the class. This is why some of these dates may look a bit out of order.
05/23/2009 - CHL class day 1
05/23/2009 - Applied online and paid
05/24/2009 - CHL class day 2
06/03/2009 - Online Application, pin # and Packet Received
06/04/2009 - Mailed application to DPS and check and check...... the status.
07/16/2009 - Processing Application, finally.....
09/03/2009 - Application Approved
XX/XX/2009 - Plastic in Hand

I have worn the numbers out on keys I use to log in to check the status. If anyone wanted to hack my information, they wouldn't even have to turn on the laptop. Just find the worn out numbers........

Super congrats texfatboyscuba! I agonize while rejoicing in you receiving your license.
Arrrrggghhhhhh! See my time line. I received my packet from DPS a day after you did. But I didn't take my class until July 18.
Oh well. I was expecting that. I have no room to complain.
Congrats again! I'm happy for you. Are you in Arlington?

Great! As you can tell I do too. I shoot at Winchester Gallery. Lonewolf & I (another forum member) shot there last week. It'd be a hoot to get several of us together and punch paper together.
What do you shoot?
OH!! And welcome to the forum! Gee...I get carried away sometime.

I shoot at Alpine. It is 10 min from where I live and I have been shooting there for over 30 years. I guess that makes me old....
I shoot on Mondays with a Bud that took the class with me. He is still waitting to be approved by the way. He did not seem all that happy for me.... Maybe it was something I said ......

Every thing is a contest between us. All I said was maybe I got approved first as I shot a 248 and he shot a 230. That was about the time he hung up on me......
