Made a 95 on the test. Missed a couple cause I read to much into the question. We are on the down hill slide now.

Going to handguns all next week. Got 500 rounds to shoot off with a night and daytime qualify. If they will let me I'll try to get some pics and videos on the range. They sometime frown upon cellphones on your person during class and out at the range.

I heard that some PDs don't like to be on video. ;-)

If someone has a gun in their hand and says don't film me, I'm going to listen not quote case law and the 1A. None of the cadets care, the instructors have a rule about cell phones during class.

On another note, it seems many people like to disagree over what I've learned and not just online. If heard some lectures that I've disagreed with but I'm not going to argue with the instructors cause they would make sure I get run off. I just play the game and once I hit the streets I can use my discretion. Going through the academy and getting into debates everyday with instructors is a quick way to free up your future. If I have a legit question I do speak up but I'm there to learn, not pick apart everything they say.

It seems that you are on the right track. I agree that debating your instructors is not a good idea.

On the other hand you decided to post on the forum, so people are going to debate and sometimes pick apart what you post.

This will also happen face to face. Don't let it get you down. :tiphat:

It cool. If I wanted a job where everyone loves me I would have joined the fire academy and learned to play with hoses and cook chili.

Nothing wrong with knowing how to cook chili. :smilelol5:

Today was mostly safety and taking about the glock. Got to shoot 15rds at 7yrds but that's it. Found out we cannot take pics or videos out at the range witch is a bummer but oh well.

We have a day and night qualifying we have to do from 7yrds to 25yrds shooting 50rds total.

You'd be surprised how little some cops shoot and how little it takes to qualify.

This is a basic peace officer course, not tactical, operator, ninja handgun training.

We have 3 mags each and will load anywhere from 3 to 6rds in each mag. When we qualify for example we will load
6rds in each mag and have 20secs to shoot all 18rds at 10yrds. We shoot 50rds each time we qualify. We will shoot 500rds total this week.

Did a bunch of dummy drills today. Your coach loads your mags and mixes in live and dummy rounds. You really see if you jerk the trigger or antisipate recoil. As of right now, I am top shot in the class. We will see if I can hold that title.

I scored a 97 on the night qualification. Here is how it went down...

No lights at all, you could barley see your target and we were shooting glocks without night sights.

6rds at anchor point (point black range shooting from the hip) I did ok on this, shot low and could not see where I was hitting the target so I couldn't adjust.

6rds 5yrds, one hand strong hand, could not see sights on gun.

6rds 5yrds,weak hand, this is the one where I shot 3 off to the left in the 7 circle range and caused me to lose 3 points. Again, could not see anything and it was best guess where I was shooting.

12rds, 7yrds, 1 reload, 20secs time limit. As soon as the first shot it fired they turn on the lights and we can see our sights and target.

12rds, 10yrds, 1 reload, 30sec time limit.

8rds, 15yrds, no time limit.

Only 1 person shot a 100 and everyone qualified. Got a quick turn around for tomorrow for our day qualify. I should do better on it only difference is we move back to the 25yrd line and shoot 14rds,(I believe) long shot for a handgun.

Nicely done....night rifle stinks. My old agency wouldn't let you use optics or a light until the last 10 rounds, so you still have to hit paper with 32 of the other 40 with irons only.
