Sometimes you can ask the hotel if they will store or hold your luggage for you after you check out. I travel a lot and have Exec Platinum status with Marriott and they have always granted me this request. Obviously don't tell them why, I just say I feel it is safer then in the car all day. I also keep a small safe like this one

in my larger suite case. I put the cable around the suitcase retractable handle from inside. they would have to rip apart the suitcase or pry open the safe to avoid taking the entire suit case.

Just Glocks is out in the boonies of Copperas Cove. It's a cool little range at a guys house. Probably not a option to store your gun for the day but, if you get the chance to pop off some rounds, I like this little range!

As for PX/BX gun counters... I have purchased a few firearms from AAFESS on bases. They make you sign a sheet with a promise to leave the base within 60 min of purchase and warn you not to stop anywhere else on base and go directly from the PX/BX to the gate. I'm sure this is more CYA for them and it makes the Post commander feel good about gun buyers be aware of the rules.

Oh, and I would NEVER go to Killeen Tx unarmed!!! What ever it takes, legally carry everywhere you can while in and around the greater Ft Hood area!! JMHO other may disagree.

I bought a jewelry bag that was made for rings. If I have to put the gun in the front desk safe deposit box, I just place the gun in the rectagular bag and place it in the box. If the hotel only has a safe that they take the items and store it in, get a lockable cash deposit bag and place the gun (unloaded) inside of it.

This is one of the main reasons I can't carry as often as I should. I wish I could store it at the security police station and run my errands on base, swing by and leave. I hate being unarmed while in town because I had to be on base. I have purchased ammo. And had to call the SP give them the full description of my car and leave within 30 minutes.
