Speaking of Memorial Day: the flag is supposed to be half-staffed until noon, then raised to full staff. What time should an all-night flag be lowered? Midnight, dawn, or some other time? I usually end being the only one willing to deal with the one at work, so I've just lowered it around midnight, but it's something I've wondered about.

Militarily speaking it should be taken down at sunset and raised at sunrise, so I figure if you kept it up all night it'd be lowered at sunrise.

What about the national anthem?
And the rockets' red glare, the bombs bursting in air,
Gave proof through the night that our flag was still there.

Raising and lowering the flag
The flag should be raised briskly and lowered slowly and ceremoniously. Ordinarily it should be displayed only between sunrise and sunset. It should be illuminated if displayed at night.
The flag of the United States of America is saluted as it is hoisted and lowered. The salute is held until the flag is unsnapped from the halyard or through the last note of music, whichever is the longest.

Zackly! It's bad enough that they're burning a flag, but they are also trespassing and vandalizing. They need to be shot, just a little bit... ...maybe in the knee or groin.

There, now I feel better.

Seriously though, how do these punks look at themselves in the morning mirror and not want to puke?

It was in a battle zone during a war? Maybe. I'm not sure.
