Re: p238 sig sauer
Can someone compare and contrast shooting the p238 and the LCP? I am in the first 60 rounds of LCP shooting and its a bit tough for me to control. It may be too small for my hands.

p238 is larger and heavier, so should be easier to control. Also has the SAO trigger which will be much shorter pull (like a 1911 vs. a DAO trigger). But it is still just a two-finger grip with pinky hanging below the grip. Have never shot a p238, only held one, but shot my Colt Mustang for two years before I sold it (idiotwebb3201 wrote:Can someone compare and contrast shooting the p238 and the LCP? I'd recommend you try the grip extension on the LCP before you give up on it completely - they really help make that little gun more controllable.
If I did not already own an LCP and was deciding between LCP and p238, I think I would still go LCP because it works better for what I want a .380 for - pocket carry. But if you're OK with battery of arms on a p238 and it's slightly larger size still works for you, I'm fairly certain it would be a nicer shooting gun (my Mustang certain shot better than my LCP).
Re: p238 sig sauer
I own a bunch of pocket .380s - Keltec, LCP, Colts, Stars, Llamas, FI, American Arms, and probably a few more.
ANY metal frame pistol is a much nicer shooter than ANY of the polymer-framed variants.
I haven't bought a P238, but I've shot a rental. Most of the comments below relate to the Mustang, but the P238 is truly an exact copy, except for external cosmetics. And I think Sig fixed the dangling ejector/overcenter thing.
Just as Ruger copied Keltec, Sig copied Colt - but Sig bought a license, Ruger did not.
I carry an LCP, before that it was a P3AT. Nothing else conceals like those two.
But they aren't much fun to shoot. The pinky extension is pretty much mandatory, but it makes it harder to draw.
I can shoot them OK, they do what i bought them for, but I'd not call it enjoyable.
The Colt Mustang, or the P238 are much more pleasant to shoot. The frame soaks up the impact, and the additional metal spreads the pulses over a few more micro-seconds. The additional width in the web of your hand makes a very big difference. You can actually shoot groups with them. And they have real sights. The P238 can be bought with night sights.
Mustang/P238 has about the same grip length as the LCP/P3AT, but the greater width and length (circumference) plus the rubber grip panels seem to make for a more secure grip.
To me the only issue is size and weight. When I can carry the Mustang, due to heavier clothing, then there is no hesitation to take it. I had no problem carrying it all over Miami, on the beach etc in a pair of shorts and t-shirt. I was pretty conscious of the weight the whole time.
Other wise I'll take the LCP. But if I was going to the range and had two choose between the two, the LCP would stay home.
