Mine either, and frankly this has nothing to do with heroes. I just respect the achievements he has done, even if I disagree with them. This culture of Them and Us has done nothing but lead us all to this political tipping point. There was a time when people could respect their opponents, even if they strove against them. That era has passed and we are weaker because of it.

Kennedy didn't come clean until AFTER the authorities found his car and her body. That says a lot about his character. He wasn't a teenager when this happened. He was already late thirties.

Ms. Kopechne died July 1969. Forty years after her death, Obama announced he's honoring Kennedy. The timing says a lot about his character.

Well, after all is said and done, the music stops and the smoke clears, it is quite clear that Ted Kennedy has at least two fans. "rlol"

If I commit manslaughter by drunk driving off into the Brazos river and running away while my passenger drowns, can I be a Senator and get a Presidential Medal of Freedom as well?
I knew this would be the response to what I said. So because Ted was a ..., that means everyone has to knock him and get down on his level? Bravo.

Im not sure if this was a comment directed towards me or not, but I feel it was so I think Ill address it. First off, Im no fan of Kennedy and Ive said nothing in this thread to support him other than he was dying and that people ought to at least try to have some decency about that. Good luck with that. The partisan hate against this man is on an unfathomable level, but not surprising considering some of those on the Right. That said, unless you know me, I would appreciate it if you would leave me out of your presumptions.

I dont see it as controversial, I see it as completely unnecessary and inflammatory.
As long as the thread is in the correct area, the discussion stays civil and doesn't violate the forum rules, it is allowed. Too much censoring or over-moderation will kill a forum. We moderators and our fine members work hard to keep this one open and worthwhile for all to discuss topics!
Your definition of "worthwhile" and mine must differ considerably. Or maybe you can tell me what might be beneficial in this topic?

Well, Yeah .. Just because he is an unrepentant murderer doesn't mean we shouldn't respect his skills at promoting his leftist agenda. He has done more to destroy America Than Stalin ever did.
I lived in Kennedy's Massachusetts, and have seen the carnage his kind have unleashed. Nothing good will ever be said from this home about that cowardly son of a bootlegger.
I also clearly remember the events of Chapaquidick, and even the Boston Globe and all the other leftist press were shocked by disposal of his case at his inquest.

I agree. Obama honoring Kennedy on the 40th anniversary of Chappaquiddick is completely unnecessary and inflammatory.

Slightly off topic here, just slightly...but as an ex-pat Brit let me tell you how the Queen's Honours list is drawn up.

The residing government nominates and the Queen grants. In other words....the slightly to the left of Stalin PM Gordon Brown (aka, the Lying Scotsman) put forward Ted Kennedy for the award, the Queens merely rubber stamps the award.

In bygone days (not that so far 'bygone' that I can't remember them) it was extremely rare for a non-Commonwelth person to be granted an OBE, these days that isn't the case at all. I well remember the storm of controversy when Bob Geldof was awarded one.

Just one footnote here...notice the Queen didn't let Kennedy drive her anywhere! "rlol"

Why would you not fill in the .....? Because Ted was a murderer? Is that the word you're having trouble saying?

I'd say being a murderer pretty much makes "your level" this: Lowest level of scum in the universe. :thumbs2:

I called Ted something in my post(three letters meaning particle of waste) and apparently it was 'removed' by a moderator. Apparently its ok to berate Ted one way, but not another.... IVe asked this moderator to clarify his editing on my original post.

In case anyone hasnt noticed throughout these posts, Im not disagreeing with this assessment.

Yes, I edited your post. I removed the inappropriate acronym, and couldn't think of anything appropriate that I could insert without changing the original meaning. I chose not to notate the editing so as not to cause any embarassment to you. However, at your request, I have amended that.

I believe, at this point, that you have all had your say. If you have nothing constructive to add to this thread, then it's time to quit.

I will be plainer than crossfire.
On topic.
No profanity, abreviated profanity, or psudo-profanity. All 3 of these have been edited.
Nothing personal to anyone on the board.

Or it will be locked.

I agree, Jerry. We've about worn this subject, and each other, out.

Ted Kennedy is long deserving of a lot of things, an honorarium from Obama, or anyone else, just ain't one of them.
