I work from time to time about 4 miles southwest of Ricardo, which is why I know that.
They stop a lot of cars based simply on profiles of probable drug carriers. Your complaint to the Kleberg county SO will likely fall of deaf ears - which doesn't mean it's not worth doing.
Theres your answer folks. Happens all over the place.
Nacogdoches PD task force was "famous" for this not too many years ago. Basically, if you were headed North on 59 in a "rental" (look for little green E sticker on bumper) you were going to be followed and likely stopped.
We can "what if" or "maybe he" all we want...but chances are great..it was a profile stop.
The dude pulled from the median to my bumper before he knew I was in a rental car...

If there was a "rental" car sticker on the windshield or bumper he probably saw it. Thats what they do here.

No American flag, bar code or colored dot on any side windows?? They are subtle, but if you know what to look for, they are there.

A. Result in the officer no longer tail gating you.

B. A nice fat insurance check from the city/county/state.
If I am not mistaken, in Texas a rear-end collision, no matter what the reason, is always the fault of the rear-ender (No laughing here

).

You are correct. If you rear end someone, it is your fault, as you are supposed to leave ample distance and time between the vehicles to safely stop.
If someone is literally _on my bumper_, as this officer obviously was, and I was in my company truck... I might feel inclined to brake check them....
"Sorry officer, I thought I saw something race out in front of me on the road."
I have a dent back there, and could use a new bumper or rear end

I am not all about increasing the tax burden on the citizems of Kleberg County, nor actually causing an accident because a yayhoo officer is riding my tail...The guy just can't pull me over for no reason!

No..the thread started because it was an illegal stop without probable cause or reasonable suspicion....
Although the rookie did pull me over, he shouldn't have and his Lt. agreed with me.
My point is...don't do something stupid like slam on your brakes...make the call to a supervisor and go up the chain when you are in contact with a rogue officer... no need for immature acts.....a call to a supervisor will do much more good than arguing with the officer or causing an accident.

Yep; an associate once put a cruiser up under a pickup when he was working for a nearby department. He claimed the driver he was behind did it on purpose. Without any further investigaiton, the sheriff pretty much told him to shut up and use his time off to gain an understanding of the term "safe following distance," while the department paid for the damage.

From the Texas Transportation Code:
Sec. 521.025. LICENSE TO BE CARRIED AND EXHIBITED ON DEMAND; CRIMINAL PENALTY. (a) A person required to hold a license under Section 521.021 shall:
(1) have in the person's possession while operating a motor vehicle the class of driver's license appropriate for the type of vehicle operated; and
(2) display the license on the demand of a magistrate, court officer, or peace officer.
(b)
A peace officer may stop and detain a person operating a motor vehicle to determine if the person has a driver's license as required by this section.
Could he have been checking your license? Is this probable cause for any of us to be pulled over...anytime? I don't see much difference in this when compared to the ability to pull over a motorcycle operator to check the requirements of his/her helmet anytime. Just something to chew on. Don't shoot me.....I am just playing devil's advocate.
