I've read a lot of posts on various boards about Kimber problems.

I have not had a single problem with my Ultra Carry II as far as FTF's or FTE's, etc. Smooth as silk with Wilson mags.

The one thing I have noticed that seems odd is how often the OEM left side external safety is accidentally flipped off. I have tried several holsters, some have leather covering the safety, some the safety is above any leather and not making contact. Galco, DeSantis, OWB and IWB, no difference, the safety switch still gets flipped off.

My love handles are not that big, but that is the only answer I can come up with.... just a little rubbing on that side of the weapon.

I have learned to check it preiodically !

I, too, have notice that the OEM safety on my Kimber Ultra Carry is easily nudged off. I'm thinking about getting a gunsmith to stiffen it up somehow.

Same here, I have learned to check it after a lot of movement or riding in and getting out of a truck or car where it rubs against the seat, this is the first I have heard of others with the problem, I thought it was just mine.

My Brothers "compact" was like that also, only.. he was constantly re-engaging it (while shooting). We deepened the detent in the safety a little, and then stretched the spring ever so slightly. Made sure there were no burrs inside the tube.. and that it was clean. Got a very positive "click" after that.

Disclaimer: I am not suggesting that you work on your own weapon unless you are fully satisfied you can do so competently.

I have already decided to touch it up with a file the next time I pull it.

FWIW, we used my "dremel tool", it had a small round "burr" in the kit.. just the size of the dimple in the thumb safety. I deepened it only slightly and then polished that area. Works fine now.

I have a dremel but am not that good with it when I only need a little bit, I am shakey and have way too much arthritis in my hands and wrist, I have some good files and can still use them if I don't stay at it to long.

The dimple holds it in the fire position, and that works fine, I need to take off some in safe position so the plunger is harder to push back going to fire position.

Just like it is would be OK on a range gun but is not safe on a carry gun.
