I didn't realize Carter's did that. I may need to take a little trip down I-10 this weekend.

As far as steaks go I have tried a few places. The Cattleguard on Hwy 6 and I-10 was pretty good and fairly priced.

Saltgrass in Katy on I-10 was disappointing. The service was poor, the steaks tough and somewhat flavorless especially for the price. I don't think we'll be going back there.

Taste of Texas is scratched off my list, won't even bother trying them even if they aren't posted. Words mean things and I don't care for hypocrites.

Texas Roadhouse. Had a tasty sirloin and prime rib from them. Not bad at all especially for the price.

As far as BBQ goes, I have eaten at Goode Co. a couple of times and liked their brisket but I'm not up on Texas BBQ much.

Heard an interesting story from a Conroe friend about Shooter's Station last night.

He called them on the telephone to inquire about their FFL fees and was told $25. That was an acceptable price, so he bought a shotgun and 500 rounds of shotgun ammo online and had it shipped to Shooter's Station.

When he showed up to get his shotgun, they told him they charge $100 for FFL fees, and since his shotgun and ammo arrived in separate shipments, it would be $100 for each ($200 total). He was flabbergasted, since ammo doesn't even require an FFL. They wouldn't budge, so he told them fine, ship it back tot he seller and then he had it re-shipped to a different FFL.

He was adamant about these guys being scumbags.

For steaks no one, and I mean NO ONE beats Taste of Texas on I-10.

For gun shops I know of several on the west side of town only, and they are all cheaper that JiM Pruitt's place. Even though I like him personally he is one of the most expensive shops in town.

I like Taste of Texas ok, but honestly, you can get a better steak at Lynn's Steakhouse, Pappas Bros, or Brenners.
What I like about Taste of Texas is all the history on the wall (and the owners are great folks). It's basically at Texas History Museum. The owners are very active, philanthropic people, and well respected in the community, so I enjoy going there to support them and see the history, but Iv'e found the filets are just 'meh'... The NY Strip is a good cut, and the salad bar FREAKIN' ROCKS. If you like wine, they have a good selection as well.

For the price at Taste of Texas, I would rather go to a Brazilian steakhouse and not worry if I'm allowed to carry. But when my manager took the team to Taste of Texas to celebrate a big project, I didn't argue. I also didn't look for a sign and so I didn't see one.

There hasn't been a sign there since I started carrying in '09. I've never seen a sign, but didn't look prior to '09. The Hendee's are very conservative. If there was a sign, I can almost guarantee it was somebody besides them who initiated it.

Wow... interesting! I stand corrected. I don't know him well, but I've had dinner with him once, and based on our discussion, I never would have thought he held that belief.
I'm glad it's no longer posted. I would definitely not go there. I bet a lot of people sent that message to the which changed their tune. Good for all those that did!

Ah! So! I can't imagine why a shop would gouge like that when it's basically 100% profit. Gun Broker has a list of FFL's on their website; I can't remember if the prices are listed and I don't know if it's accessible w/o registering. The shop I use only charges $15 with a CHL and he's listed on GB.

Hendee was a big supporter of the Houston red light camera program. And a big supporter of Red China.
