I am saving for a the FN Herstal SCAR assualt rifle....so purchases of other guns has kinda been put on hold. A buddy got one and let me shoot it....it was all over from there.

That being said, I have enough "huntin" rifles and shotguns that I am set there. I have a tactical shotgun (mossy 500), and a really good collection of "antique" guns ranging from derringers to rifles.

I have what I would consider the bare min. when it comes to handguns though. I have a full frame .45, a concealed 9mm, a .380, and a .22 target pistol.

Before CHL, I have been more of a hunter (birds, deer, elk, etc)

Once I get the FN SCAR, I will expand the pistol purchases. I really like the Kimber Raptor II

18 months ago we had a Buckmark 22 and a couple of shotguns from my deceased FIL. Now we have those plus four 9mm handguns, a HD shotgun, and 2 AR's. The wife and I both got CHLs; joined a shooting club, NRA, SAF, TSRA; took 2 NRA courses; and are extremely aware of our surroundings. Gee, I wonder what changed in late 2008?

I have a set budget per year for gun related purchases. That includes guns, ammo, magazines, accessories, etc. I typically don't buy a new gun until I have at least 1000 rounds of ammo and plenty of magazines stocked for the previously purchased gun. I think it's somewhat silly to buy tons of guns and have a few rounds of ammo for each. For example here is what I've done this year:

-Purchased snubbie
-Purchased 1000 rounds .38
-Purchased pistol
-Purchased 1000 rounds .45
-Purchased 4 back up magazines for pistol
-Purchased AR
-Purchased 1000 rounds .223
-Purchased 10 AR magazines
-Purchased pistol
-Purchased 1000 rounds 9mm

So for the rest of the year:
-Purchase 4 back up magazines for pistol
-Purchase AK47
-Purchase 1000 rounds 7.62
-Purchase 10 AK magazines
-Purchase 1911
-Purchase 1000 rounds .45
-Purchase 4 1911 magazines

WOW jeeperbryan - 1000 rounds of ammo per gun and 10 extra mags for the AR. I only keep about 500 rounds of ammo per gun, AK, etc. and only 5 extra mags for the AR-15 and 3 mags each per semi auto handgun, and people ask me if I am stocking up for an invasion. "rlol" I have got to let my hubs read your list cause he thinks I am excessive in my extra mags & ammo. (Not saying that you are, it never hurts to be prepared)

It amazes me how forgetful people are. This time last year it was hard to find any ammo. And AR mags were going for ridiculous prices. I figure I'll buy cheap now and make some money off some suckers later. :coolgleamA:

We had fun, found a couple shotguns we might want to get at a later date, and decided to order my 1911 next week so we'll be making another trip down to TargetMaster to put half down on it. I'm excited!!

I've bought 3 handguns in the last 12 months and am planning on buying another this weekend. Didn't have a paycheck without some overtime on it all last year and agreement is that my OT pay is mine to do whatever I want so last year was good for guns, ammo and accessories. That well dried up this year, no OT since January so having to stretch the "mad money" dollars. Still, 8 long guns and 7 handguns give me plenty of toys to play with.

For now, that is ;-)
