7/11 - applied online
7/12 - sent docs
7/15 - status changed to online app received
7/24 - status changed to following
* Application : Received
* Fingerprints : Under review
* Background Check : Under Review

doesn't work for me...maybe cause I mailed mine in last week and im not in the system yet?

exactly right.
if you mailed it, give it 3 weeks before it will show up.
sometimes a bit sooner, but not the average.

How long does it take for it to go through the background check? Mine has been sitting on "under review" since 7/19/2010.

My timeline goes something like this -

7/10/2010 - submitted application online, mailed packet same day
7/13/2010 - online status changed to application received
7/19/2010 - everything was marked as received, fingerprints and background check under review.

I am still waiting on my background check and they received it on June 29th. So its almost been a month now. Hopefully It will be completed sometime this week or early next week. My birthday is Wed so I'm waiting to check then, maybe I will get it as a birthday present.

Is it too much to ask that they change my status from "Background Check: Pending Review" to "Background Check: Gone Fishin' " Then at least i'ed know they were doing something worthwile.

ive checked my status 3 times already today... and thats just to witness it change from manufacturing pending to mailed! CHANGE ALREADY!

Yup, that is the first thing they do, and there is no waiting period for that.
Once they have your money, they can take as much time as they want. I wish I could tell you the wait get's easier, but it doesn't.
