I have responded in the past threads about this subject.

I have two younger VERY active kids, live in a kid dense neighborhood, and have been faced with your same thoughts. When I first started to carry, having the gun on my hip while playing put-put at a 2nd grade party nerved me up a bit.

After I put myself through the mental gymnastics I came to my decision. I am carrying my firearm to protect myself and the family that I love. I will carry at all times where it is legal to do so, and I will carry concealed - quietly. If I do that properly, it will not make itself into an issue, and carrying concealed and quietly is in my control.

I don't think that the conclusion I came to was "cold" but it was my conclusion.

What are the odds on being shot in a "no-guns allowed" household? It seems to me that the first question is whether you really want to visit with these people or not. The answer to the first question will bring about the answer to the CC in another's house question...won't it?

I treat it with a "don't ask, don't tell" policy. As for the odds, given my lifestyle, my "odds" are lower than others based upon lifestyle choices BUT, if odds are against me or my family in any situation, I am going to be prepared to the best of my ability to survive.

I have way too many social interactions to find out everyones opinion on my choice to carry. It is my choice, not theirs. If I mess up and someone is opposed to me carrying, I just know where we won't visit anymore. Plain and simple. If and when that will ever happen?? Don't know, and I hope to make it a non issue.
