I wonder if anyone actually sees the badge and then asks him out loud in front of everyone if he has a gun?! There are all kinds of situations this guy could be presented with if that happened. He might get kicked out of places at the very least for being a bonehead.

Now hold on, there is an official fanny pack and duly authorized licence combo that we all agree is kosher. That is the
batgirl setup worn by randomoutburst. Notice the official batlogo badge is worn directly on the fanny pack. This gentleman was just trying to accomplish the same thing - only he was not utilizing the correct gear.

That would be correct; you must properly affix the
appropriate badge to the fanny pack. CHL badge is not approved.

(On that note, hubby convinced me to leave the BatGirl logo on my pack...it hides the bulge of the grip pretty well, I do admit!)
I don't think I would be caught dead (or alive!) with a badge OR a sash. Yikes.

I don't think a picture would be a good idea. This person is a loon and may have went off with the flash.

The latest Sportsman's Guide catalog came in the mail the other day. My girlfriend was flipping through it and zeroed in on the CHL badge. She recently moved here from CA so she's not up to speed on this yet. She pointed it out to me and said; "Did you see this?, do you have one? is it a requirement?" I replied, no, they're not required, I do not have one and have never actually seen one in person. She says, good, it looks pretty dumb.

After reading what happened to Erik Scott in the Las Vegas Costco, I try even harder to stay concealed. There's BGs and then there's irrational citizens.
Too bad his instructor didn't cover the badge idea in class.
The closest I ever come to a badge is carrying my CHL and drivers license in a clear ID holder on a lanyard when I go somewhere without my purse. However, the IDs are kept out of sight under my shirt. I started doing this when I forgot and left them in my jeans hip pocket one day after going for a walk. The next day I realized I was carrying all over town without either one in my purse

Eh, I'll go against the grain in this post and say that I think it's mostly harmless. Most people will look at it and assume that he's a LEO. As far as the "shoot me first" comment, BGs have walked right past a cop car into a place to rob it, I doubt they're the most observational bunch. I'm not sure how LEOs would react, but they'd most likely shake their heads and leave it be, since he isn't actually displaying his weapon, and it'd be hard to claim he's impersonating an officer with the badge's wording.
I know a lot of you want to keep it a secret that you carry. Though I agree with you, I don't see that as a requirement by law.
Assuming that the guy is a loon who might go off at a camera flash is a huge stretch. Depending on his age, or sense of humor, he might have just seen the badge somewhere and thought, "Heh, that looks cool! I want one!"
Cut people some slack, not everyone's as serious or enlightened as you are.

"Heh, that looks cool! I want one!"
If nothing else, such a declaration reveals grotesquely bad taste. Something a mullet wearer might utter...
If such a hideous piece of flapdoodle were purchased and witnessed by normal CHLers, there should be a badge removal and drumming out of the cadre ceremony, as it were...with much hooting and jeering to keep things light.

Hey, where can I get one of those? With the CHL badge, the CHL sash, the CHL tiara and that shirt, I will be all set up.

Don't forget about the reflective CHL jacket, now that the weather is cooler you might need it!
