How was the Fox 29 piece? What footage and interviews did they use? I've been looking all over their website for it, but it doesn't look like they posted it.

Fox 29 San Antonio was pretty brief, I've searched and can't see anywhere they postd it.

IMHO MyFoxAustin channel 7 KTBC had a one of the best video reports/ interview with Scott and allowed everyone to laugh at John Woods

I still haven't timed it, how long it is, yet.

The Fox 7 piece is six minutes and fifty-five seconds long. The debate portion is about four and a half minutes.

Did the Fox 29 piece include interviews with any Texas State students? If so, how did those interviews go? Also, did the piece include any footage from a CHL class?

Honestly the Fox 29 piece came on when I was trying to get my 15-year-old niece ready to take to her school and I didn't get to pay much attention. (My brother has to be at work at 4:00 a.m. so he drops her off at my house at 3:00 so she can nap, then I get to get her ready and driver her to school)
So, I didn't really get to pay much attention to it.

Plus, see I use an over-the-air antenna to get Waco,San Antonio, Austin,Fredericksburg, and some mornings (depending on weather) Bryan/College Station, Victoria, Houston, Dallas, and was flipping back and forth and rotating antenna, so I missed a lot trying to catch it. (Not rich enough for cable/satellite, plus my antenna gets between 94 and 100 channels since it went digital)

I’d rather have those fellows armed and able to assist if needed.

Texas State has “at least 3 officers on duty at all times” for the campus of 35,000, who can respond within 2 minutes.

Realize that hostage situations could occur, so response time has little to do with the amount of time a gunman has to shoot victims

George Henard shot 40 people in less than 15 minutes (even deducting his breaks for time to regain composure after crashing truck into the wall, exiting the vehicle around the debris, talking to a woman and her daughter and letting them go and reloading)

It's not that big a deal. I was just curious because we spent a lot of time trying to find interview subjects and stock footage for the reporters in San Antonio, and I was wondering how much of it they actually used and how well the interviews went.

the point is, you don't NEED a gun. yes you can argue that a spatula along with many other common household items can be used as weapons but a gun is unnecessary and deadly.

Yes guns are deadly, that's why criminal like them. If they carried daises, we could be on equal footing and slap each other with daisies. They don't; I prefer to live. I've had 7 guns pointed at me in the past, 1st when 2 robbers robbed an electronics store I was in, 2nd time when 5 guys robbed a hardware store I was in. I didn't NEED a gun either time. Austin, Texas was a big city with a small-town attitude. I think there were a lot of people who lived there that thought something like this just doesn't happen here. And so in many ways, these four murders changed Austin forever.

The student government can try to overturn the veto when they reconvene next semester. But I'm not really worried about it.

The point is that students are not as universally opposed to campus carry as our opponents might have people believe, and now the Texas legislature and the people of Texas know that. The final disposition of a nonbinding student resolution is of much less significance than the results of the vote itself.

to be honest 1rpb1, i wouldn't know what I would do in that situation. perhaps I would just cower under the desk and pray. however, I do believe if that with less weapons available to the wrong hands, the likelihood of this kind of situation happening in the first place would be far less.

gitsmctee I totally absolutely agree that guns should be kept out of the wrong hands. Some people do have to go through parts of town to get to school. I wear my gun in a hidden holster Inside my pants on a reinforced belt, right now Universities want me to leave it in the car instead, Criminals are using school parking lots as shopping malls. It's less likely that anyone will reach into my pants, than break into my car. BUT, I guess we'll see what the future holds, now that the resolution was vetoed, and we'll need to vote to over ride the veto in the Spring.

No one has an alternative "better plan" other than wait your turn.

Slightly off topic, but a year ago, as I sat in the lobby of a 4-star San Antonio hotel, shots rang out as the glass windows above me exploded. Needless to say, there was ensuing panic and confusion as to what to do. If I’m not mistaken, one of the Criminology Professors at Texas State University is a CHL and firearms instructor who trains future and current police officers. But, he isn’t currently allowed to be armed on Campus.
