10 years of playing Tactical games online (Rainbow Six I, II, III, Ghost Recon, SWAT4) requires a good moniker for your teammates to remember you by, when yelling at you via voice comms.
So, I am kinda used to using it, when I don't just use my real name.
And like Jim Longley, I have also my own custom picture!

I picked mine ages ago because it's weird enough that it's never taken. It's from a video game (I don't remember which one) and I thought it was an interesting name. (It's pronounced recycler)
I do hate that "are you from mars" look I get when I tell it to people though.

When I was in the service someone started calling me Tomcat, kinda like you might use Jimbo for Jim or Howdy for Howard, then one of the Mexican guys changed it.

If you where to google my callsign you would find out more about me than googling my name.

I would use my call, but on a gun related forum it might seem like just a little too much showing off.
de K5NRA, Jim
Well shoot

, nice to know you K5NRA, and yes---you should have used it. Ask the mods to change yours just as they changed evil-smurf's to Russell... which, by the way, is also my full first name.
Well, I'm also an amateur radio operator (Advanced Class), I guess you all guessed that by now!
A mutual friend of W05M's and myself (WB5FLQ) called me KW squared but that hasn't stuck yet.
I use my call sign on every forum that I visit, from Christian to Guns.

I play on line first person shoot'em up games. Diode is a lost term and most kids I played with had no clue what a Diode is but know what a L.E.D. is.... and in online game play a stand out name is good.

Stevie = Steve
D = Middle Initial
64 = Year of birth
My Dad and I were fiddling around on the internet one day many years ago, and we discovered that people would sign on and register into these chat forums and talk about guns, politics, buy stuff from total strangers over the internet, yet not use their "real" names but "internet handles" like all the people did when the CB radio was big...
[take a breath...]
Dad and I were gluttons for punishment...I still am I suppose...
BTW, "Wife Unit" (wife's handle) came from a dirivative of some lame skit on some saturday night TV show...Duh, big secret...

Ah! SO you are from back when Bill Gates said no one would ever need more than 640k of memory?

I can still remember running everything from 5.25 in. floppies and what would I do with a 10 meg HD.
