If you are flipping off drivers or swearing in public, you're probably not fit to be a concealed weapon carrier anyway. The fact that it takes years to resolve them should be a strong incentive to behave yourself in public. I understand the desire to carry a weapon legally (obviously), but it comes with a certain level of responsibility. When you obtain a license to carry a loaded weapon in public, you represent an entire class of people whose right to carry is affected by your behavior. If you cannot accept that responsibility, then you should not be carrying a weapon. That responsibility includes notifying DPS when you move. If someone can't follow simple instructions like those, why should they be trusted with a loaded weapon?sjfcontrol wrote:Be aware that the "class B misdemeanor" that is charged could be for something as innocent as flipping off a driver, or swearing in public. These are Disorderly conduct charges, and can take YEARS to resolve thru the court system. They are also OFTEN used by people to "punish" someone else who hasn't actually committed ANY crime. Don't like your neighbor? Accuse him of "mooning" you. In the meantime, no CHL for you. In fact, if you move around a lot, you can even have your CHL revoked by forgetting to inform DPS of you new address within 30 days, three times.
And besides, why NOT issue the license in the meantime? You haven't been convicted of anything.
Just for clarification, disorderly conduct is a Class C Misdemeanor, except for the offenses involving display or discharge of a firearm, in which case they are Class B Misdemeanors.sjfcontrol wrote:Be aware that the "class B misdemeanor" that is charged could be for something as innocent as flipping off a driver, or swearing in public. Pardon me?Liberty wrote:It takes Gov. Perry a lot longer to sign bills into law, but I think it just takes him longer to read. As they say he isn't the swiftest kid on the block.

And what in the world does this have to do with anything in this thread?Shoot Straight wrote:Katy Perry will be in Utah on July 25th. http://www.energysolutionsarena.com/cal ... ventID=320
MANY on other sites I have been on have had nothing but negative to say about those holding a Utah CHL. To make such a 'global' statement, probably is a little harsh, and for that I apologize. Only one person, an LEO, backed up his comments with facts, and not just opinions or crap. This isn't about me. I have my lic. I can go get a Texas lic. if I choose to do so. But when there are so many that want to spew inaccurate info. about others, it's hard to swallow. I would rather those that do not know, or their opinion is so harsh, to just keep their mouth shut and let's help each other. I have my lic. to protect myself and my family. I can only hope that any of us are there when needed to protect those that can't or choose not to.Charles L. Cotton wrote:It's difficult for me to respond nicely to this ridiculous accusation. To globally categorize anyone who has concerns about the Utah CFP in terms of irresponsible advertising and a resulting backlash that harms reciprocity as being "for more govt. control" is to adopt the tactics of Sarah Brady. It smacks of "if you disagree with me, you have evil motives."greggtex wrote:If you're for more govt. control, then I can see you being against the Utah CHL, but if you stand for people protecting themselves, well, that's me.
