I've looked it up on the web, so I think I know what they are. It just seems pointless to me, but I'm willing to be educated.

It looks like a valid barcode but the little blocks in the barcode are less than an inch high.

Invalid. It's no wonder that the DPS rejected it. That's the worst thumbprint that I've ever seen.
