The truth is that there are probably multiple reasons for people not flying besides issues with overzealous security procedures. Vacation travel is more limited now than when unemployment was lower, corporations (including mine) have seriously cut back on business travel as they try to shed expenses in a down economy and actual cost of travel (tickets+baggage fee+misc. charges) has also alienated some potential travelers.

I doubt that 5% who have made decisions not to travel for any reason have communicated their reasons to the responsible groups. Silent protest does little good, in my view. I won't detour this discussion to the non-compliant gun sign area but I do believe those of us who have stopped doing business with merchant because of gun signs should communicate the reasoning for it to them. I don't expect a few protest letters to change the mind of a rabid anti-gun any more than I expect my letters to Napolitano and the TSA to alter their mindless policies. Without the letters, however, any of them are free to invent their own reasons for why things are as they are. I do understand that many of them will do that anyway.
