But seriously, the only thing I see as a real issue is where the bus goes from your "A to B"...If the route takes you through a state where your licenses and permits do not cover you...Then plan accordingly...

The original question was about Texas, but now that you bring this up, there have been cases where the police searched everyone on a Greyhound. If you're in a state where you can't carry legally, you're in a heap of it.

Being poor hurts in a lot of ways. Poor people are more exposed to crime (by living bad neighborhoods and taking public transportation) and less able to protect themselves legally.

I dont know how I missed this post when it was new. I used to work security at the San Antonio depot. The company policy of Greyhound is that no weapons are alowed on the bus, checked bags or carry on bags. They are now doing searchs of people that are riding the bus. The checks are random. Some buses get checked in San Antonio and some dont. The list of buses comes from Greyhound and is set up a month at a time. If you are found with a weapon on you, you are not able to get onto the bus, with out either handing over the weapon, i.e. knife, or shipping it through Greyhound. If you ship it, then it wont be on your bus. In the time that I was there, I only had one person show up with a handgun, and she had a family member come pick it up and take it home.
You are correct that the wording on the sign at the San Antonio depot is not 30.06, the same wording is also writen on the back of the tickets. I think that the way that they have gotten around the wording is that each driver before the trip starts they tell the people that no weapons, including firearms are not allowed on the bus. Also at the start of the security check the security officer says that no weapons are allowed to be taken on the bus. So, with it being told to all, if they are found on the bus with a weapon and do not wish to leave, then yes that can lead to an arrest.

You are correct about firearms. I ment knife when I wrote that part. Sorry about that.
If you are found with a handgun, then you are not allowed on the bus, and have to find other means to get where ever you are going.
