I do not think the instructor getting his comeuppance will result in any sort of action against your license. I believe this is covered in the FAQs section on the DPS site.

I just spent 45 minutes listening to Steve from SafeArmsReview talk about the concealed carry class he took. He did a lot of advance calling and questioning. As an ex-military guy and LEO, history of being a range master, arms instructor and all whateverelse, he knew what he wanted. He ended up taking a class that lasted over a three day period, and 32 hours. The range of material covered astounded me, including the opportunity to shoot a wide-range of weapons with ammo supplied. All of that for right around $135. Then you hear stories about jokers like this. That guy is just plain lazy, ego-driven, and an idiot.

BTW, he took his class in Colorado Springs. I believe the name of the place was Paradise Firearms, or something close to that. Was going to look them up on the internet just for fun.

DPS specifies that the class is to be 10-15 hours long. If it's more than 15 hours long, it wouldn't meet DPS requirements either.
I would bet that DPS would have a problem with a 32-hour CHL class if they knew about it.

Well first if it's in Colorado Springs it wouldn't be a Texas CHL class anyway. Plus I looked up the website and it looks like the described class is a basics firearms class.

Even if it was a TX CHL class, you'd just have to call 10-15 hours the official CHL class and the rest a "basics forearms instruction" or something along those lines.

Well, for all I know, Colorado Springs IS in Texas. After all, San Diego is!

Yes, a 32-hour CHL class would be fine if the CHL-100 is issued after 10-15 hours of instruction and the remainder of the class is considered something else. If you had to complete the entire course to get the CHL-100, that would be a problem.

Oddly enough, DPS will allow you to use the five-day instructor class as your CHL training.
