I agree that she and the other guy were almost equally wrong.

I am busting open laughing. Last week we were in Houston and my son-in-law was driving. He turned on his blinker to move to the right and the guy let him in. Having driven in Houston before, I could not believe this happened. I scoffed that the guy probably recognized we were tourists because of the turn signal.

I live in NW Houston (249 and FM1960 area) and work inside the loop (610 & Buffalo Speedway). I get to drive through the cream of Houston traffic on a daily basis. I have found that if you signal in heavy traffic, you get one of two reactions: The car in the next lane makes sure that you absolutely cannot pull over, or, the next car over lets you pull over into its lane. I simply wait until the nice guy/gal lets me in. It happens all the time in Houston.
Not everyone is a jerk on the road here.

Ditto in Dallas. However, the latter happens for me more times than not when the other driver has seen the magnetic signage on my pick-e-up truck that has a graphic of a Glock 17 and the words "Training. Testing. Practice!".

As I get older I have mellowed a lot in my driving habits. I have a tendency to let folks over, as long as they signal. A passenger once told me if I let one more person over, I would be driving backward. When someone ticks me off, I just honk at them.

I always get a chuckle out of the folks who act as if I am setting them up when I let them in. They will look at you as if to say, REALLY???. We are all so accustomed to aggressive driving it surprises us when someone acts polite.

Interesting to me is how much more courteous the overall traffic seems when traveling points west...Fort Worth and beyond. They'll speak as well. Also the tendency of Oklahoma drivers to move to the inside lane when they see someone coming up the ramp. I was having a discussion with an Okie once and he was bemoaning the inability of Oklahomans to merge. I pointed out this courteous habit and he said, "Yes, we will move over but that is a direct by-product of our inability to merge."
