Wow I guess thats a wake up call. Atleast It turned out ok this time. When someone hands me a gun and tells me its unloaded, I always check it myself. Btw killed a rattlesnake recently with snakeshot and it does the job just fine. Glad all is well.

I know of only a couple of 22 rimfire guns that do not sustain damage when dry fired. And one of those wants it limited to the takedown procedure. I recently turned down a 22 revolver that showed signs of being dry fired a lot. Each port in the cylinder showed notches where the pin had been striking and the pin itself was chipped to a sharp point that would have penetrated a cartridge. So maybe there are two lessons to be learned here.
