In Cass County these guys tend to have "hunting accidents".
puma guy wrote:How does this guy get a probated sentence for Aggravated Sexual assault of a child, especially 5 years old? There needs to be a new judge in someone's criminal court.
Or at least see if someone can get the judge to go hunting.

I'd imagine that the answer to your question could be found in the public court records.
It is possible, as unlikely as it sounds, that this guy technically violated some small portion of the letter of the law, but not the spirit. Perhaps an overzealous DA threw him under the bus, and the judge realized what was going on. I'm not saying it
did go down like that, just that it
might have.

I'm not making any excuses for the true recidivistic scumbags that do this stuff, but in certain cases there are extenuating circumstances.
A guy I know is brandished for life because of this. His ex (who falls under the category of psycho) dreamed a charge of this against him because he broke up with her. He allegedly did this to his own daughter.
This is the quickest way someone can ruin someone's reputation in a fit of childish, petulant anger.
If he is a scumbag, I say we take Charlie Daniels' advice-"take him out to the swamp and tie hm to a stump and let the bugs and the critters and the alligators do the rest"

I wonder how many sex offenders use the registries as networking tools...

A word of caution to anyone who is using a website to find the sex offenders in your neighborhood:
A year or more ago someone on the forum posted a website that claimed to tell you where the convicted pervs
lived near you. But if you did the same search in a later attempt, the data would not match.
Apparently this was some kind of a fishing expedition to get you to pony up some money for a more detailed search.
Remember - just because you read it on the intertubes, it may not be correct.
On a side note, regarding sex offenders who can't live within x feet of schools, parks, etc. : In Miami, Florida sex offenders
who need to remain in the area to report to their probation officers, or don't want to move - they have to live under a certain
Interstate highway bridge in a little no-man's land. The Florida DMV even issues them driver's license with an approximate
address of something like "under the 15th Street bridge at I-95".

There was a recent instance of that too, I think it was on here as well.
This is the one you can be sure of:

Yup. As the original flyer stated, you can
find out more about him at the DPS registry.
For example, that page lists two convictions, both cases disposed on the same date. The first was aggravated sexual assault of a child [TEXAS PENAL CODE §22.021(A)(2)(B): the victim is younger than 14 years of age]. That victim was a 5-year-old boy.
He was also convicted at the same time for indecency with a child sexual contact [TEXAS PENAL CODE §21.11 (A)(1): (a) A person commits an offense if, with a child younger than 17 years and not the person's spouse, whether the child is of the same or opposite sex, the person: (1) engages in sexual contact with the child or causes the child to engage in sexual contact] with a 6-year-old girl.

Thank you for posting that, ma'am! I looked the first day I got that card and the website was down, I forgot all about it until just now when I was reviewing my post. Creep.

I know this guy is a bad dude but most "sex offenders" are nothing more than a victim of circumstance and bad luck.
Do a little searching and you can find several websites that will list all the sex offenders in your neighborhood. You will then be somewhat shocked and frightened at how many you find.
The next step I challenge to to do is to look up the actual crime.
The last time I did that I found:
- 19 year old was having sex with his 17 year old girlfriend - SEX OFFENDER
- 27 year old man got drunk and urinated behind a dumpster and was caught by a police officer. Charged with indecent exposure. - SEX OFFENDER.
- 22 year old woman caught having sex with her 17 year old boyfriend. - SEX OFFENDER
Get the picture? The vast majority that I found fall into these categories.
Yes, there are truly evil people out there but when you find out that there may be as many as 15 people living within a mile radius of your home, dig a little deeper and you're gonna find that it's really not that big a "danger" as we are lead to believe.
Now, if you find another Steven Ryan Mills, I’m with you guys. I probably would look into some creative and NON-VIOLENT ways of encouraging him to live somewhere else.
Doing violence to the guy will only land you in prison.

I do not know where you got your examples but,
- 19 year old was having sex with his 17 year old girlfriend - SEX OFFENDER Not in Texas. Age of consent is 17.
- 22 year old woman caught having sex with her 17 year old boyfriend. - SEX OFFENDER Not in Texas. Age of consent is 17.
If for some weird reason these got into the system from Texas courts, THREE L@#$ers messed up, Judge, Prosecution and Defense.

acphtttttt. I made the mistake of relying on a long ago memory without redoing the research but the gist is the same.
I remember that in the quick search I did a few years ago, virtually all of the people in my neighborhood were what I considered "non-crimes". None of them dealt with an adult having sex with a child. Calling an 19 year old having sex with his
16 year old girlfriend a sex crime and subsequently ruining the life of an otherwise upstanding individual is not right. A person convicted of aggravated felony assault would be a much more dangerous individual that I would be interested in knowing the whereabouts of. More importantly,
it cheapens the truly horrific crime of sex with a prepubescent child and THAT is what makes me angry.

Yep. Alas, this is the natural order of government-maintained lists. Originally the No-Fly list was just for terrorists, but now it's used for politicians as well.
(I was going to keep citing examples, but those are the only two I can think of. Are there really only two government lists, or do I just need to go to bed?)
This leads me to Dave's Ism #52: "If it's worth keeping a list of, do
not let the government get involved."

Not in Texas. Must have over three years difference in age, too.
But I understand your point.
In my area, I see possession of child porn, attempted rape and rape of adults, agg sexual assault of a 6 yr old, of a 9 yr old, of a 13 yr old, and solicitation of a minor. I also notice that unlike most other criminal lists, the sexual offender database, at least for my area, is primarily of older white men with a few minorities thrown in.
