I do think the spring does not hold in the groove well enough to hold it in,,but I did the same thing on my new one,,but it was on a bench and I found the spring,,and it did take me an hour or so with my magnified desk lamp,to get it back in,,the pin should never be removed,,you will see just to be more gentle and go slow when messing with the take down
First I heard of the spring. Good to know but following the takedown instructions I never heard or even felt that second click.
I wonder why they made it so that the pin can come out all the way?

Many others have had the pin come all the way out.
Anyhow, what is done is done. I will wait to see how it comes back. The takedown was a very sensitive process right from the getgo.

Do you like yours? Do you use it for carry?
I liked mine *in concept* but it didn't work out for me. I felt it was too dense and not that much less concealable than my full size PX4.

I received an email yesterday from repair shop. They were responding to my email. They have not yet received my gun [will be there today or tomorrow] in their email they
stated that the "retainer spring" has been known to break and it can be easily fixed if that is the problem. They also added that this is not a common issue.
So, they used the word "spring" as well. Yes, if they fix it and I can cycle a couple hundred rounds without frailer I will keep it. I like the gun.

I have to wait till the shop tells me what the problem is/was. I am now thinking that the problem may have been my own doing.
hopefully that gun is fixed and I can use it.
They did say that the retainer spring can break. Hopefully that is all it is. I really like that Beretta and Beretta is a quality company. that is why I
bought the gun in the first place.
Now it is just wait and see.

I was just called by the repair shop. The gun cannot be fixed and they will be sending me a new gun.
The retaining spring broke and it is molded into the gun therefore they cannot repair it.
I did nothing wrong!! I was getting to think I did.
I was told by the repair shop that the process should take a couple weeks to a month but I will be receiving paperwork directly from
Beretta. My serial number will be replaced by another serial numbered gun.
I asked the repair shop "off the record" his feelings about that model gun. He said unequivocally it is a good gun. Keep it and use it.
The repair shop does repairs on many different manufacturers so he had no reason to bull me.
I was thinking that maybe my age may have reached a point that I could not even clean my guns properly.
It is a little inconvenient to me but at least they will take care of the situation.

Beretta customer service is really terrific. I sent my PX4 Storm SC to Missouri they decided it could not be fixed and sent it to
Beretta. They received it on 7/19 and 7/25 I had a new replacement. I think that is superb!!!
I will take the gun to the range tomorrow and shoot it. Hopefully it will work flawlessly like I expect a Beretta to perform.

Hey glad you got a new one,,like I said,,I do not think the pin is to be removed totally,,if your spring came off and was inside then when you shot,,well, yeppers,,,it is a little fat,,but iI like the capacity,,and really glad I put on the Trijicon night sights,,,that is another reason I have a nice mat for cleaning and catching anything that might fall out,,glad it was taken care of,,see no big deal !

Yes, I know the pin should not be totally removed but I found it difficult to feel or hear that second click. Therefore, if you miss the second click the pin comes completely out.
I have read that others fail to hear that second click and the pin is removed. Seems to me the gun should have been made so that pin cannot be removed, ala Ruger.
What happened to mine was the slide flew off after I fired it. The gunsmith said the retainer spring broke and he could not fix. He also said the gun is sound in his
words "It is a good one!!"
I like the gun, and the capacity it holds. I will try my hardest to be absolutely careful when I break the gun down. Some say it is ok to fire 500 rounds through it before taking it down.
I usually clean my guns after each trip to the range.
My Ruger P-89 my daughter had for a while and went to the range numerous times, fired 100s of rounds and never cleaned the gun. It was cleaned for the first time when I got it back
a few months ago. I did not know she never cleaned it till I broke it down. Still functioned flawlessly!!
Now, I have to figure out the trigger on this new Beretta. I fired about 200 rounds today and am shooting low on all the targets. I know it is me because I got the guy next to me to try her out
and he consistently hit the center 4 inches.
