You know it's kinda funny that this is the third or fourth topic where the person in question had ended up on Keith Olbermann's "worst person" list. :evil2:

That is the equivalent of politicians going to "rehab" after a scandal breaks. :biggrinjester:

Maybe a better perspective can be obtained by reading this story: http://azcapitoltimes.com/news/2011/07/ ... raws-fire/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Could anybody possibly think the Huffington Post would make the story sound like their political leanings? :headscratch Even the AP included part of Klein's side of the story. I'm sure the reporter is pleased with the story impact but I wonder if the reporter intentionally caused the situation? A reporter would never create a story for pure notoriety. (/sarcasm off)
Quoting from the article:
But explaining her side via email, Klein said it was the reporter who put himself in her gun’s line of sight.

After she was asked to show her weapon so photos could be taken of it, Klein said she made sure the chamber was clear.

“The photographer, who was behind me at the time, asked me to show him the laser sight and I did so, turning it on and shining it on the wall in front of me (away from the photographer). During this demonstration, the reporter came and sat down in the sofa in front of me, placing himself in the line of the laser sight,” Klein said.

“He noticed the light, then I noticed the light, then I turned it off. I apologized and let him know that he was safe because I keep my finger out of the trigger guard. Again, that is basic gun safety,” she added.

Klein said the reporter didn’t show any sign of discomfort at what happened.

But Klein said she learned several lessons, chiefly, that no matter who asks, she won’t be showing her gun to anyone.
She got it wrong. The MAIN lesson is don't talk to the media unless you absolutely have to. If you're a conservative, anything you say or do—ANYTHING—will be used to try and destroy you. Why give them ammunition?

I look at Olbermann's childish list in a similar light to the Brady Bunch's F rated politicians.

Sure she got it wrong, but that reporter set it up. He is, after all, NOT denying her narrative of the sequence of events. She should have been more aware, and she should not have let the barrel sweep him at all. But that said, the HuffPo makes it sound like she was deliberately trying to intimidate him, and THAT is the lie that the "evil liberal media" as you put it are spreading.

Where was the HuffPo when they and the rest of the "evil liberal media" were reporting on the allegedly white-racist gun owner sporting an AR15 across his back at a Tea Party rally? They all showed a cropped version of the photo and screamed like their panties were in a twist about evil white supremacist racists with guns trying to intimidate politicians. When the full un-cropped photo was released, low and behold, said racist turned out to be a black guy in business casual wear. Forget the politics for just a moment..... they flat LIED, and when caught in the lie, they clammed up and closed ranks. No mea culpas, no "we were deceived and reported inaccurately." No nothing. They lied, and they stuck to their lie even after blatantly caught with their pants down. So yeah.... they ARE evil. Only evil people get caught in a lie, everybody knows it's a lie, they know it's a lie, and then they refuse to acknowledge their lie.

Forget the politics for a moment..... Do you honestly believe that guns and gun-owners get a fair shake in most of the media, particularly the legacy media? If you do, then I can't help you. My point about conservatives and the media is just dressing on top of the rest, which does happen to have some validity. We're not evil, you know, us conservatives.....but that's what the legacy media tends to portray us as—if not evil, then slightly stupid, or uneducated (which is really funny when it is uttered by a liberal actor who barely graduated from high school and never attended college), or boorish, or heartless, etc., etc., etc.

It is a standard tactic of many ideologies, LL, that when the facts cannot be credibly rebutted, to shoot the messenger.
