IMHO this country's education system is lacking.

Principled men vote for what is right, not what is expedient. But as I said, I have no doubt some cannot look past the end of their own noses, whether in the ballot box or day to day life.

I would hope enough people are tired of the regulations, spending, and out of control big brother govt behavior that has been increasing with every administration since FDR (and before, but his is an easy one to identify as a turning point) that the tea party gets out a big vote, and the newly minted representatives do what is best for the country and our future, and not their pockets and their district.

If they won't, then I feel that our Republic is basically over in all but name. We will have become Rome, and will slowly consume ourselves into irrelevancy.

Oh, and I forgot the easy answer.

Our founding fathers, who pledged their lives, fortunes, and sacred honor on the idea of a representative republic. Most of them were rich men, who could have lived quite well under the King's graces. They went against their own self interest, wouldn't you say?

If only they were around today to see how we've squandered the opportunities for freedom given to us.

Well, that's an interesting, and very pessimistic outlook. In my case, I believe they are the same thing. Voting for those that are pro-business, pro-jobs, pro-economy and pro-America would be good both for myself, and the country. Voting for those that are pro-welfare, pro-spread-the-wealth, and anti-American are neither.

My guess is that you had to foot the bills for your vacations? Well, you're footing the bill for his too.

Actually, I can think of a lot of people don't vote their own best interests. I suspect that if everyone asked themselves:

1. Who has kept the promises to me that made me vote for them?
2. Am I better off now than I was before I voted for them?

more than half of the Legislative branch would not be there. That crosses party lines. We keep electing the same people who are making themselves richer and richer by selling the government to the highest bidder. There was list of both GOP and DEMs where had increased their wealth in the past few years while the rest of us lost our shirts. The aggregate increase in their wealth was North of 1,000%

Everyone assumes that one choice is bad and the other choice is good. Nope. One choice is bad and the other choice is worse. So went the 2008 election. A poll of all of those in the unemployment line in the picture would confirm this post.

Obama never had to work hard for a paycheck in his entire life and doesn't understand us.

Someone who is out of work has another rent or mortgage payment due on the 1st and doesn't have the luxury of abandoning their financial responsibilities until after Labor Day. It shows how Obama really feels about blue color Labor on their holiday.

Isn't the entire congress also on vacation? Let's bash them too. Come to think about it, what's the SCOTUS doing these days?

Thousands and thousands of Americans out of work and these elected and appointed parasites take time off from their mindless finger pointing and blame placing to go on vacations at taxpayers expense. Oh, the shame of it all!

Fire 'em all!

I am starting to wish that they would all go on vacation and stay there for a year or more. Doing nothing can't be worse than what they are doing now.

This is why I've been wanting a "none of the above" choice on every ballot. If "none of the above" wins then there would be another election and no one on the old ballot could run again.

Wouldn't work though for reasons stated in previous posts. Too many voters have a vested interest in keeping things as they are. Only thing it might accomplish would be if "none of the above" got a fairly high percentage of the votes, possibly as low as 10%, the vermin running might take notice. Doubt it but one can always hope. There have after all been a few good politicians holding office.

:iagree: It seems they are doing more harm than good. Spending money does'nt buy your way out of problems, and they just don't get it. :banghead:

The current project that I am on did not go as planned this summer. I cancelled my vacation twice this year. I have to much pride in my work, and take my responsibility's and reputation seriously.

Thats all I have to say about it.

When he went to Pensacola during the oil spill, he shut the town down. People who were shopping at the Walmart outside of the west gate NAS Pensacola, were sequestered for four hours. He did not greet or speak with any members of the military. When he went out on the island he shut down a restaurant (drove everyone out) so he could have lunch there. Then he walks down the still pristine beach looks concerned and that is what they kept showing during the spill. Someone who was there said he spent a total of 20 minutes on the beach itself.
