I'm glad you've always taken the moral high road and never made a mistake. I said that " a cooler head did not prevail". I also said I didn't have my gun on me so even if I got in a fight with them I don't see how this would have shed a bad light on the CHL community.
Honestly if I had my gun it probably would have kept me from trying to find them.
I posted this talking as one friend to another type story. As in. "Man I made a mistake today. Listen to what happened. Ok tell me how badly I screwed up". I know I made a mistake but I bet theres not one here that hasn't and we all whether we admit it or not have a boiling point.

This causes them in turn to beat their chest, to which you have to then do harder. Usually ends up with both parties in the wrong, doing things they never intended. If we don't dance, it ends with first act of the other. Being honked at never killed anyone. However, once in the dance, it is still easy to stop...just say "Know what, I shouldn't have whatever-it-was" and walk away.
Here are some articles on it:

Maybe my post wasn't clear. They swerved out of there lane into the lane I was walking in. Then laid on there horn like they were trying to hit me. If I did this to a cop it probably would be assault with a deadly weapon or attempted. If they just honked I would have thought I knew them or gave it no thought at all

Sheezzzz. I over reacted to the driver of the car but you're over reacting to my post.

Your point is well taken.
This was not a brag, but an admission that things done in the heat of the moment of a particular circumstance didn't look like as good ideas in hindsight as they did at the time. It was presented as an opportunity for all of our members to share the events and the thought process that went behind history as it actually unfolded so we could do an after action analysis and plug the results into our own planning without having to go through the experience itself.
When something like this is shared, there is sometimes an urge to feel superior and say to oneself, "I'd never do something like that - I'd have handled it much better."
Maybe. Maybe not.
Having the chance to go through it through another member's eyes certainly enriches my own analysis and decision tools, and I suspect that's true for others as well.
When someone brings forward a tale like this because it has value for all, keep in mind that it's not an easy thing to do while knowing that every aspect of one's choices will be picked apart with the incisive judgment that comes with hindsight and time to weigh alternatives. I think we should be respectful and empathetic in our remarks, aiming any critique at the choices made and not the chooser.
If the truth be known, each of us has the untold tale of an experience that we didn't handle particularly well tucked away in memory. The difference between those and the ones we see here is only whether or not we choose to share them for the benefit of others.

It's true, I could tell some tales of major gaffs on my part over the past half century but I'm not much into confessionals OR testamonials.
I once started to tell of the incident this past September when I thought that I was going to have to spray diesel fuel on this 'pretty boy' aggressor who was 30 years my junior and who decided to show out by getting in my face at a filling station in Panquitch, UT because I honked at him to move his vehicle. He finally cleared the pump, moved his vehicle and then decided to come get me. I saw him coming. I was armed but I also had the diesel hose nozzle in my gun hand. Pretty boy's cooler head apparently prevailed once he realized that he was only an instant away from getting doused, head to toe, with $4.20/gallon diesel fuel. I'm glad he stood down. I would have probably had to clean up the spill.
Yep, I probably should have exhibited more patience and not honked.

I don't accept this statement at face value. I believe it used to be true, but the last 20 years have seen a marked shift for the better in attitudes towards gun control.
Gallup shows 44% of people think there need to be stricter gun control laws.Only 28% think handguns should be banned.

...and that statistic ain't even right...should read that 44% think there should be stricter gun laws, and 28% DON'T think...seriously, with 44% of responders saying stricter laws, and 28% for banning, that's 72%...those Democrats are still votin' more than once!!!!!

I have a friend I shoot with occasionaly that over reacts in traffic. He has been impressed that I have a CHL however I have done my best to presuade him not to get one. To carry a weapon is a huge responsiblity and requires emotional maturity. I would be worried for him if he did have a CHL.

That doesn't mean we should keep piling on. It's not suprising to me though that you would take this road.

I can see your point with the first sentence, but isn't the second an example of you doing the same?
I come here to learn and appreciate most posters on this forum, the both of you included. I would state that some of us do not have the luxury of allowing ourselves to reach our boiling point. That is not a statement of superiority or inferiority; it is just a fact of daily living in some people's lives and professions. I wish peaceful living for both of you and a good day.

Some of the things people do while driving really tick me off. However, since I have been carrying I have been much more conscious of my response. As one who carries we have the responsibility to eliminate any appearance that a confrontation was initiated by us.
If you do find yourself in such a situation where it could be construed that you are the initiator you would be better served to leave it holstered, turn tail and run or you very likely will be in jail. We need not to mess up the privilege we have been given to carry.
