thank you very much. As the owner of a licensed, legal, wrecker service that operates under the laws of the state, you show that you don't have a clue of the guidelines wrecker services have to go by.

In our town, wreckers can't just show up at wrecks--and there is no lowest bidder. The city has a rotation list for "police dispatched" calls--AND they set the price. The state sets the minimum requirements to operate as a a wrecker service including the insurance required and the criminal background checks for drivers.

Are there bad operators out there?-Yes--are most wrecker services sleezy--NO. It's the guys with stingers stuck in the back of their trucks who think they will make a buck(HA!) who give the legitimate operations a bad name.

Just because there are a few rambos out there with guns doesn't mean that all gun owners are nutso---same analogy

I never said anything about bidders, that was someone else. I maintain that your average driver I have come in contact with is scum and shouldnt be on the road. I routinely see them speeding and driving recklessly throughout Houston. If you run your business different then you are to be commended. I see them lined up 15 deep for a 2 car wreck, blocking traffic while shooting the breeze. I have smelled the alcohol on them when up close to them for whatever reason. I see their cabs packed with friends (usually young girls) so they are unable to provide a lift to someone being towed. I find very few redeeming features but they are a necessary evil, like vultures. I dont have an ax to grind, very rarely used a wrecker in my life, these are just what I observe when in the field. I have used Poteet Wrecker for work issues and they are always friendly and helpful, they are the exception I have seen.

No, I do not know the regs or guidelines they operate under but am quite sure the above transgressions are not permitted.

I love how the media twists everything. The other night I was showing my son how people change from one ego state to another using the Joe Horne 911 call as an example. We were on youtube and when we finished I watch another video about it, it was a clip on the Anderson Cooper show. There was this "expert" saying that Joe Horne had the right to protect his own property but not his neighbors property. Said it was a law in Texas where you could defend your own property, and they he had no right to protect his neighbors property. So I paused the video and pulled up the CHL laws and showed him where you could protect third persons property and how they had twisted the truth. LOL he was amazed. I love when the blinders start to come off. He is at the age now where he is starting to realize that the ole man isn't so stupid after all.
