A hybrid between "dump" and "tip". Kinda like Terrefull which is another one of my favitts.

Guessing that most of ya"ll that are unfamiliar with "tump" grew up in the metropolitan areas. It's just one of those terms that people use here...particularly in the rural areas. I never realized we had "different" words down here until the first time I went to Detroit and would get these befuddled looks when I said I "was fixing to go eat" or "fixing to grab a beer", etc... I had to explain over and over that it meant I was "about to" do something. The usual response to that was "then why don't you say so?" or, "what is it you are going to fix?"

I've actually heard of it, and knew what it meant, but I never used it.

Tump was use quiet a bit when cleaning out the horse stalls. You don't wanna tump horse manure everywhere, afterall. We also call those round things on top of the stove that get hot "eyes", ate supper, and I know how far away "yonder" is. I might live in the big city now, but I was raised up in the country.

Did you eat dinner at lunch and supper at night? Take ice water in a mason jar warpped up in a rag to drink while out working?

Anybody grow up pronouncing "wash" as "worsh"? As in: "Put it in the worshing machine."?

...but of course...one good thing about the DFW area is we get some of everything...I still find that if someone doesn't seem to understand what I'm saying...it's because they don't want to...that's not just a Southern trait...most teens have it..some never seem to lose it...

And after you're done "worshing" it, don't forget to "wrench" it out real good!

Heck yeah, I've tumped over plenty of things.

Hey, Puma Guy............you just reminded me of something I hadn't thought of in 50 years!.............and you wouldn't believe how good that (still cold) water tasted when you had been out driving a tractor in the summer heat!

I learned that when I was 5 years old with my Granddad on his farm. Never forgot it. He retired, moved near us here in the city and we did a lot of projects in my teenage years. The water would be just right about the time you needed it.
