I keep my license in a completely different part of my wallet from my DL... I occasionally show my DL for various things (write a check, occasionally for a credit card, etc.)... Don't want to mix up the two ever.

As for "forgetting" that you have a CHL.... Seriously??
If you are worried about forgetting you have a CHL, you're much more comfortable about carrying than me amd I've had a license for more than 15 years.

Me: Certainly officer, I also want to let you know that I have a concealed weapons license and I'm carrying my weapon today.

After that, WHERE you hide your license is irrelevant. You'll have plenty of time to find it if the officer wants to see it.

There are 2 Texas state agencies that DO NOT honor a CHL. DPS as already stated , at TABC . If you were served or sold alcohol by showing your CHL the store or bar was being very lax.

I guess I lucked out? Or maybe he used the CHL to validate that the paper temp-DL and expired photo-DL were validly mine? Either way, the Mavs won and good times were had by all.

Some of us are so obviously over 21 we don't usually get carded. Consider it a compliment they thought you might be too young....

The proof of identification may include a driver's license issued by any state, a U.S. passport, a military identification card or any other ID issued by a state or the federal government.

Just like any kind of instrcutor, they can be wrong. They may be unaware that it is a valid form of ID form the state.

He may not have been wrong when he said it. The law was changed during the 2009 legislative session. Before that time, the Alcoholic Beverage Code provided the defense solely for Texas DL or ID card issued by DPS. The new version is when it started allowing other state's IDs, passports, military IDs and such.

I recently bought a new car. Needed 2 forms of ID for the process. One of the items on the acceptable list was a Texas CHL. I didn't use it because I had enough other acceptable ones.

I could see why they want two IDs. After all, just because the name and address on the check matched my ID, why should that be enough?

I really can't remember the last time I was asked for two forms of ID. I suppose if I was asked, I would probably use my CHL as the second form. I use Bank of America and they can be a pain, but they haven't asked me for two forms of ID. They have asked for my DL when I make a deposit, which I find a bit silly. I told them that if anyone wanted to deposit money into my checking account, please allow them to do it... no matter who it is.

The only time I've used mine as an ID was to purchase another firearm. Saved a little time with the background check not being called in.

Wait, why is the Caribbean the only place listed as "sea". If I just wash up on the shores of North Carolina, wouldn't I be entering from the sea? (And — sorta tangentially related — how are random people swimming in from the ocean handled? It's not like there's a ICE agent stationed every 50ft along the shore or anything...)
