Do you have proof that this was ever an American flag?
Also, you say that "it doesn't matter if it was ever a complete flag that had been modified, or was made as shown."
Actually it does.
Reference?
Before I answer, just so I understand your post, please expound upon the statement that ""it doesn't matter if it was ever a complete flag that had been modified, or was made as shown." Maybe I misunderstood.
You disagreed with me saying that the Obama flag was not an American flag, saying "By that logic, anything you can possibly do to a flag is perfectly OK, since once you desecrate it, it's no longer an American Flag."
I am saying that if it was never an American flag (which you contend, at one point, it was...reference for that?) then how am I desecrating the American flag. It does matter if it was an American flag at one point, but if it was not, then it's moot. That's why I said it does matter.
Or are you saying that any flag with red and white stripes, and a blue upper left corner is an American flag by default, and it subject to our flag code?
Hmm, I guess it's kinda like pornography -- you may not know how to define it, but you know it when you see it.
To me it doesn't matter if its an "official" American Flag that's been modified, or an originally produced flag that is intended to look like a modified American Flag. I would think it would also need to actually be a flag, not an image, or just some product that contains red and white stripes and blue star fields -- such as patriotic bunting. (Although some have had issues with shirts or T's that appear to be made from flags.)
It seemed to me that your argument that Obama flag wasn't an American Flag, was to imply that the Obama flag was not something to be concerned about because it wasn't a real American Flag. Well, of course it's not an "official" American Flag, because that would contain the star field, not a picture of Obama. But if perverting the design of the "Official" flag as they did is OK, then any modification of the flag is OK. How about a flag with the star field replaced with a picture of Mickey Mouse flying at Disney World, or one containing a picture of Tony the Tiger at Kellogg's Headquarters? Perhaps Sea World could come up with a flag with dolphins leaping out of the red stripes? Any of these would obviously NOT be official US Flags, nor would they (most likely) be manufactured from Official Flags. Nevertheless, I personally would find any of those flags offensive as well.

Thanks for the reply. Love the pornography analogy!
I completely understand your view. I'm no fan of modified flags myself, but I guess I have become immune to it. I guess I look at it as more of a First Amendment issue. Do I *like* it? Nope. I guess I just turn a blind eye to it.

The flag in the OP looks like it was made by a screen printing company so it probably isn't a standard US flag with a picture attached to it:

I'm less upset by the flag implications than I am disgusted by the implications of Obama's ego, which is so powerful that it demands to be worshipped on a flag. I would not be the least bit surprised if his face turned up on our currency.

TAM -- No argument regarding Obama's ego -- what other president would proclaim "We can't wait", then proceed to bypass congress and the constitution? However, in this case, is there any indication that the flag was designed or authorized by Obama himself? I suspect it's all the brainchild of overzealous democrats.

What is it the Democrat Party always calls on The Republican Party and leadership to do, every time the Democrats see something that ANY Republican or conservative has done that they don't like? They call on the Republicans and/or conservatives to
publicly disavow it...well, I don't see the Glorious Leader disavowing this. That's all I'm going to say about this one.

...what we need are true American Patriots...who love that flag, the country, and are willing to forget party lines to do what it takes to heal Her...but I'm not holding my breath...we're limited to choosing the least harmful...and hoping that Old Glory flies long enough for us to get to the point where patriots can WIN elections again...

To do that, we'd have to break the "What can my Government do for ME!" attitude. The whole theory behind the Democratic party is: "If we can hook 'em by making them dependent upon the Government, then they'll vote for us forever!" As we are now at the tipping point where more people are receiving from the Government than are paying in, that is going to be very difficult to do.

I know for a
fact that it's the brainchild of overzealous democrats. I also know that his face on our currency will be the result of overzealous democrats. They literally worship him and place their trust in him, rather than worshipping and trusting He who is the Author of their fates. Consequently, they put Mao style graphical representations of him on everything they can think of. It's Obama's ego which will not allow him to say, "hey folks, you've gone a little too far here....I'm
just a man, not a messiah..." ...........because he really
does think of himself as their messiah, so why
not put his face on everything? Mao would be proud of him, if Mao himself weren't so busy right now trying to find a cool breeze and a cold drink of water. Hades is a stiflingly hot and dry place.

I once attended a parade in a small town. One of first things was a group of vets walking the street handing out small 4x6 flags on a short stick/staff. That was great until I saw some words printed at the bottom of each flag that read "Made in China". I thought that was about the lowest possible insult to our flag that was possible. I did contact the vets group afterward and filed a complaint. They apologized saying that they hadn't opened the box of flags until parade time and didn't look at them. They too were appalled by their mistake.
The "flag" with Obama's face on it..... well, I'd better keep my opinion to myself.
