I can't let that pass by without saying that if you can not see a clear mainstream media bias against anything or anyone conservative than I probably won't be able to help. That's not to say that I won't try though...gdanaher wrote:The talk radio folks would differ with you. They sell a lot of advertising until the show hosts go too far. What I'm trying to get to is this: The general media, be it radio, television, or print, is always trying to gain audience, and that is accomplished by reporting those juicy tidbits that gains attention. The Democrats have managed to be rather boring of late. Why, even Joe Biden has been able to be muzzled, and the clips of him before the 2008 election are now old and out of style. Not so with the Republicans. They did it again today. They just put the sound bite out there and it gets reported. Hardly anything else needs to be said--just play back the film of the guy flapping his gums and that's all that needs to be said. The liberal media crud is just that--if the Repubs would just stop forcing those size 12's down their throat every time a camera is rolling, you might be griping about the conservative media instead.
Why does the media trounce on what Rush Limbaugh said about a woman in college and give comedian (and 1 million dollar Obama supporter) Bill Maher a pass on what he said about Sarah Palin or what David Letterman said about Bristol Palin?
Why would the media blame George W. Bush for high gas prices during his term and not do the same during this administration?
Why would the media spend hundreds of hours and thousands of dollars pouring over old Sarah Palin emails looking for dirt of any kind and not question Obama's relationship with former(?) terrorist Bill Ayers or radical preacher Jeremiah Wright? Or vet Obama at all?
Did you hear recently that a sheriff in Arizona investigated and found that Obama's birth certificate and draft registration card were forgeries? No, there is a media blackout on the topic. (I don't know one way or another if it's true, but I think it is definitely something that should be looked into further). Did you hear in 2004 that George Bush had some embarrassing issues with his Texas Air National Guard service and Dan Rather at CBS reported on it? The media jumped all over it during the 2004 election until it was revealed the documents CBS relied on were forgeries.
I could go on and on and on about media bias against conservatives. It has nothing to do with "juicy tidbits" only being served up by Republicans lately. There's plenty available daily from the other side that are deemed to be not newsworthy for some reason. Joe Biden has not been muzzled at all. He's still the same clown we've seen over the past too many years (Dan Quayle is a scholar compared to him) producing gaffe after gaffe almost on a daily basis, but those too are usually deemed not newsworthy for some reason.
I wonder if all this has anything to do with the fact that the majority of mainstream media senior executives, on-air personalities, producers, reporters, editors, and writers are Democrats? An industry survey said that 61% of reporters stated that they were members of or shared the beliefs of the Democratic Party. Only 15% say their beliefs were best represented by the Republican Party. This leaves 24% undecided or Independent. You're fooling yourself if you think that people can set aside their core beliefs and report objectively every day. They would be ridiculed and ostracized by their co-workers. It is much easier for them to be part of the pack and go along to get along.
