From Calderon's perspective it is all politics and money. We have tightened our border but they have not on traffic going south. Calderon's party (PAN) is behind PRI in the polls with the July election looming. If he could get the US to do something about automatic weapons it would make him look good at home, boost the position of PAN, and cost him nothing to improve the border inspection system using personnel who have traditionally been underpaid and overly dishonest.

Please someone correct me, and I know you will, but do we not already have laws on the books which address those individuals who purchase weapons with the purpose of delivering them to known criminals on both sides of the boarder. Instead of preventing the manufacture and sale of same, should a greater attempt be made to hang those individuals who are violating existing law???

let me see, its illegal for an american to enter into mexico and stay past the time his/her visa is up, they get arrested and jailed, but we can't do the same for mexicans because Jose calderon whined till we gave in. The Mexican government does not accept a marriage between a mexican citizen and an american if the ceramony isn't performed in mexico or any us marriage as I understand it, but we recognize any marriage certificate from other countries including mexico. it is illegal for a mexican citizen to own a firearm in mexico, but again Jose whined and got the us law changed to allow mexican citizens here on student or 5 year workers visas allowed to purchase and posess and even carry weapons, hmmm seems real one sided to me, Mr Whiney Jose Calderon needs to stay himself in mexico, keep his one sided rhetoric to himself, keep his citizens in mexico instead of giving them books on how to illegally enter into the US, or more sucinctly he needs go dry up and blow away along with Chairman O
