For crying out loud, at a minimum, get some type of safe and secure your firearm if your going to leave it in the vehicle. To do otherwise is just plain.......Your gun could very well end up doing someone VERY serious harm. This sort of thing is just another reason for anti's to use in their plight against CHL's or even gun "traveling laws," which are still open to debate concerning their wording. You might want to also consider reporting the loss to the A.T.F. That gun will be traced back to you if it is ever used and subsequently found. I'd personally want documentation of the theft and reporting thereof.

First of all, sorry to hear about the breakin.

I have a G19, and my wife just got a M&P9c. We each like them both, but the M&P fits her hands better. It really seems to me that the ergonomics makes up for the smaller size, so it shoots really well for a (sub)compact. The trigger on the M&P is also nicer than the glock, once the grittiness works it's way out. If I were deciding between them, and I wasn't already a glock shooter, I'd probably have chosen the M&P.

BTW, she has just over 1000 rounds through hers, with zero failures of any kind. Mostly WWB, but also some gold dot, HST, and Hydrashok. The grittiness in the trigger is much better now. The break is still a bit heavy, but that seems to be lightening up, albeit slowly.

Compared to the XD, you might notice that the trigger pull is, uh... shorter. ;)

The only downside is that magazines are harder to get (S&W sells them, but they're expen$$ive), and there are fewer holster options.

sorry to hear about your loss JRG hopefully they manage to recover your gun and catch the thugs but doesn't sound too promising. I have made the some mistake several times myself and gotten lucky but after hearing your story I will not do it again. By the way nice rig syntax360 styer makes a pretty sweet shooting gun but I an still partial to the glock.

JRG, was that the Fairfield Inn on I-35 just south of FM2222? If so, that
area has been bad for vehicle break-ins. The Drury Inn (now Ramada) had warnings in each room from Austin PD about vehicle burglaries in that area.

Yes, it was THAT Fairfield Inn. My buddy in Austin told me after the fact that that was not a good area to stay in. I'll know next time.

I really didn't need to be preached to about my stupidity of leaving the gun in the truck. I admitted that in the first post. My GPS and the binoculars were in the same center console as the gun. They were left.

As I said, I will not be making this mistake again. I'm going to try to go this week to shoot the new M&P. I wore it while shopping in Home Depot yesterday and it is super easy to conceal. It should be a fun gun to wear and also to shoot.

There probably isn't a good area to stay in. My company's offices are in a swank area of Houston (Westchase). Thefts from cars in motel and restaurant parking lots are common. The thieves know where to go for the goodies.

I think it's just because so many people have trouble spelling "Beretta" correctly...Baretta, Barretta, Berreta...

Seriously though, I can't remember the last time I've heard someone say, "I got a Beretta, and it was a lemon." I'm thinking of the recent Kahr and Kel-Tec threads. Beretta is a consistently well-made product.

It's because of all the places that ban Beretta's (you know the ones I'm talking about... the ones with the ghostbusters sign...)

Skiprr's right. Us Gilligans just can't spell Beretta. That's why I got a Glock.

But, hey, at least I'm better off than Longtooth. He can't even spell Glock! He had to settle for one of those 1911's.

I may barely be able to spell Gasten Glitch but I kin spell Springfield 1911A1.
