According to the news report here in San Antonio not only were they his dogs, but he's been a K9 cop for many, many years...that's what they said!

you know that if I'd done that to my 4 yr old and/or 11 week old corgies I'd be in jail...and I'd deserve it...and he does too.

When my dad was at Iwo Jima, he rallied 6 other survivors who were trapped in Cushman's Pocket with him, and after about 36 hours trapped behind Japanese lines, led them in the dark of night out to a point just outside of the marine front lines. Because all but 1 of the 7 were wounded (my dad included), he sent the one guy who was not hurt to advance the rest of the way into the lines, identify himself, let them know that there were wounded just a few yards away who needed immediate help, and get some stretcher bearers out to them. A long time passed, and help never came. My father feared that the guy had been killed or wounded by nervous sentries, so he crawled the rest of the way in on his back (he had a substantial traumatic open wound on his front), challenged the sentries, and got help organized and on the way out to the rest of the men. Only then did he allow himself to be carried a few yards back behind the lines to an aid station............where he found the unhurt guy he had originally sent for help, sitting there having a cup of hot coffee. That guy was so relieved when he passed back through the marine lines to be alive and unhurt that he completely forgot to get some help organized for my dad and the other five and just left them out there to die.

Years later, when I was in high school, that guy came through the town where we lived and he looked my dad up and phoned him, inviting him out for a drink. Dad declined the offer. He didn't get real angry or upset, he just told me that he had nothing to say to the guy and didn't see any point in meeting him.

Wow... If I'm ever in a similar situation, I hope I'll be as level-headed as your dad was. If you don't mind my asking, do you know what he said to the guy when he found him drinking his coffee?

I know it was a different story, in a different state, and a different cop, and , well different K9's..

The interesting part was it was about a LEO, who caused his K9 to be killed, and was charged.

I thought it was more interesting because he buried the evidence. That may have been why he was charged.

I agree on that one. That article doesn't explain why or how the dog died and even said they would be waiting for autopsy results. He was fired and was being charged for trying to cover it up. More charges may have come later after the autopsy results.

Oops. I forgot that the article said the officer confessed to accidentally killing the dog. They just didn't say how.
