My two cents.

Houston police are quick on the trigger. Does anyone remember the boy (13 I think) that was shot in the head? I believe he had done something minor and at least two officers were wrestling him on the floor and one of the officers stated “his gun went off”.

Another time a bunch of officers opened up on a man and shot him a ridiculous number of times. A couple of the officers shot each other and the subject was shot numerous times in the back when he was on the floor. They found slugs imbedded in the wood floor (http://ndsn.org/julaug98/lawenf2.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;). The man turned out to be unarmed.

I am not judging these officers but I would not put a lot of stock in the Grand Jury not indicting.

For those too young to remember, look up Joe Campos Torres.

And yes, I have been an Leo and in a few shoot/don't shoot situations.

This is not meant to bash all LEO’s. My position is that when there is a police shooting that doesn’t look right, it should be investigated thoroughly. There are a few bad officers then there are some that break the law. Those that break the law are criminals and should suffer the full force of the justice system. I cannot think of any worse type of oppression than to break the law under the color of law.

If police officers are investigated for wrongdoing, they should be investigated thoroughly and speedily. If innocent they should be returned to duty quickly so it doesn’t “hang over their heads”. If the investigation shows wrongdoing the officer(s) should receive the punishment anyone else would. Anything else betrays the respect most people have for the badge.

Umm nope. Mr Oregon had a gun just never fired it. The cop first going thru the bedroom door saw the gun and either froze or retreated while yelling "Gun!" and there was a collision with the officer in the #2 spot that caused that officer to ND into the the back of the first officer. After hearing Gun! and then the gun shot the officers thought they were in a gun fight and started shooting. Definitely a screw up but a tactical one not some sign of rogue cops.

If my memory is correct the gun was in the bedroom. He did not have a gun on him.
